I have to agree with this as well, but the same case could be made for a whole bunch of other songs as well. I think if the band had hand picked the songs Fireworks would not have been on it, not to diss the song itself, I like it, but it doesnt belong. [imo] Before this gets out of hand with the "how come_______didnt make it" posts, remember that this was the results of "fan" voting on the internet. I still go back to my point from before, if Im a Werewolf Baby got the most votes would they have still put it on?? :?

Re the EP, I'm looking forward to a remastered Highway Girl, actually.

Springtime and Josephine are the two I would have added; probably would have dropped Looking for a Place to Happen and Fireworks to acheive that result.

ya I would say so, for instance Highway Girl, great tune, but i think the reason why it got picked was from the wicked Live versions that all of us have come to know and love. for me, I'll take a live H.G. over the studio any day. I feel the Hip had to go with We either let them decide or we do it ourselves kinda thing, but i could be wrong or course :mrgreen:

I'd lose Fireworks and So Hard Done By, Id have put Thugs and Springtime In Vienna on instead. I feel bad for a song like Opiated, an awesome song imo, but it gets overshadowed by the big hitters on that album ie: NOIS, Blow, 38yrs. and Boots. I wonder what the band did if 2 or 3 songs got roughly the same votes? Its good that Highway Girl made it, I think every album had to be represented in some way, it just wouldnt of been right to leave the EP out.

This guy, Christopher Mills, has directed a few music videos of late for Modest Mouse, Broken Social Scene, Interpol, Doctor, and The Hip (I think he directed Nashville or VC.)

According to him, his directing style is "Rumpled-Country-Art-Doctor-Antiques-Lover-Who-Thinks-Out-of-the-Box-(and imagines vast worlds inside it)."

Yeah, I have the same question. And if it won't be available south of the border hopefully MapleMusic or someone like that will be able to ship it.

And I forgot to mention how happy I am that Escape is at Hand made the cut. Obviously I'm not the only one who loves that song.

Now if they would only play it live more often......

I am very happy to see that they did not do it in Cronological order, I love the fack that it bounces around a lot. It would ahve been boring if it was cronological. Assuming of course that is the official track listing. :thumb:

Tragically Hip Readying CD, DVD Boxed Set

Canadian rock act the Tragically Hip is compiling a four disc music and video boxed set. The limited-edition "Hipeponymous" will boast two audio discs dubbed "Yer Favourites" that will feature 37 tracks recently chosen by fans through an Internet vote on MSN's Canadian site. Two new songs will also be included.

The box will be bolstered by the concert DVD "That Night in Toronto," shot in November 2004 at the Air Canada Centre in High Definition. Another DVD will feature the band's entire video oeuvre of 23 clips, plus 11 new "video pieces." A 48-page book will round out the package.

The four-disc set will be released as a Nov. 1 in the Great White North by Universal Canada. "Yer Favourites" and "That Night in Toronto" will also be released separately on the same day. At deadline, it was unknown if the collection will be released in any fashion in the United States. The group's last two studio sets, 2002's "In Violet Light" and 2004's "In Between Evolution," saw U.S. release on Rounder's Zoe imprint, but a Rounder spokesperson confirms the label and the group are no longer working together.

The Hip has made only two appearances in 2005, playing the Toronto Live 8 concert and Newfoundland's Salmon Splash Festival. The band will return to live duty when it opens for the Rolling Stones Sept. 3 in Moncton, New Brunswick.
