I finally got my box set for Christmas, and the wife didn't disappoint, it came with an autographed post card.
Anyway, I still haven't listened to the audio disks, but I had a bunch over to watch the live DVD and what a great set it was. What stunned me was that they did 3 encores for such a lame crowd.
I imagine they did three encores because they were filming for the DVD ... plus it was Toronto, of course. I agree that the crowd was lame -- after the talk on the documentary about the surge that always happens during the pause at the start of Blow, I was really expecting a little more jumping around in the front rows. Ah, well. Doesn't detract from the show, was was excellent, even if they didn't play Locked.

There was a piece of black cardboard with the track listings that had it incorrect (I'm pretty sure of that) Also I was on my laptop when I got it and I KNOW that Cordelia played as Windows Media Player showed Scared as the track. I will have to look more as I get home from work.
On Disc two for me all the tags are wrong! I played it from my laptop and WMP said track one was Courage but it played Lake Fever instead- everything's sort of 3 songs ahead like that.
It just makes me love it more for it's oddity.
Not sure if anyone noticed this or not, but last night while playing poker I popped in the "That Night in Toronto" DVD for some bacground music and in the middle of a flush draw I could have sworn I heard the intro to Fiddler's Green being played....so I rewound it and sure enough there it was. It happens during the intro to Bobcaygeon (which has a similar riff midway through the song) but this one was clearly Fiddler's and I told my friend that's probably the closest we'll ever get to a live recording of this song by the band...check it out.

They did three encores at most of the shows in Canada didn't they? They did three encores in Halifax. They only did two in Sydney but that was understandable.
Yeah, that Toronto crowd was pretty lame but the crowds down east are way more pathetic. I always try to get floor seats because you can't stand if you aren't on the floor. I saw the Hip on the Evening With tour in Halifax and couldn't get floor seats. Everyone was sitting where I was situated. It was ridiculous. It occured to me that the Hip have very few really dedicated fans, which is alright. Most of the fans I've noticed at the shows I've been to are fans of the older stuff and not much more. That's ok though, to each their own. It's just kind of a myth that half of Canadians are in love with the Hip. It's probably more like, I don't know, 20,000 die hard Hip fans in Canada. In Halifax, the crowds are probably more rocking at a Hilary Duff or Avril Lavigne or Sum 41 concert than at a Hip concert.

I thought that the DVD would have sold at least 5,000 copies - which qualifies as Gold in Canada.
And I thought that the box set would have moved at least 50,000 units... Maybe they fall into a category not listed on CRIA's website?

Not sure about where the box set is charting, but as of Feb. 16th, "Yer Favourites" is sitting at #71 on the Soundscan top 100. I have no idea what that translates to sales-wise. I find it weird that neither Hipeponymous, the DVD, or Yer Favourites is on that CRIA list. For a while there, everytime I went into a record store Yer Favourites was constantly in the top 10. I was in HMV in downtown Calgary today and it was still in the top 20, so somebody is buying them. I figured a greatest hits disc would be selling like crazy, but I guess not.

Now that you mention it, I've seen the same thing here in Toronto, so perhaps there's a glitch in the CRIA site, or the rankings are off by a month.
Received my Hipeponymous here in London last week - no time to watch the DVD but Yer Favourites has been my constant companion on the iPod since. Great stuff!
