LOL...that's how we tell our 4 year old how many more days. "Only 11 more sleeps until your birthday!" Glad to see we are not the only one.
Any explanation why the Hip are flying this thing way below the radar??

I thought the point of a Greatest Hits collection was to target people who aren't maniacs for the band. The only place I see or hear about Hipeponymous is on this board. I have a buddy who's been to a dozen Hip concerts, but who doens't visit this board, who had no idea that this thing was coming out.

All it's got is a passing mention on the home page too. It's not even the top item anymore.

Well, it's still a month away from being released. I don't remember seeing any ads for the new Matt Good greatest hits package until a couple of weeks before it came out. I'm guessing the closer it gets to the release date, the more we'll hear about it. You'll probably see a lot more print ads than anything else. We all know Muchmusic wouldn't be caught dead advertising anything involving intelligent music, so I doubt we'll see anything on there about it.

I found this little tidbit on <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.shorefire.com/artists/tragically/pr_tragically_09_14_05.html">http://www.shorefire.com/artists/tragic ... 14_05.html</a><!-- m --> ...

Does this mean we can choose the angle that we want to watch that particular song with?

Forgive me if this was covered previously in this thread, but my memory is muddy after 14 pages...

Apparently just with 3 songs, V.S. , Springtime & Pistols or so says that Ebay listing for the set....Multi angle it says beside the 3 songs.
Do you think they're going to release one of the new songs as a single? If so, wouldn't they start that right about now?
still nothing new about this ... curiouser and curiouser.

I just looked at hmv.ca to see about pre-ordering. The page for Hipeponymous looks like a dog's breakfast:

what's going on?

I was expecting more hype than this, I mean this should be a big thing here. I dont get it either? Greatest Canadian band ever (at least in the last 20 years anyway) and not so much as a wimper. Fuck you MuchMusic, you suck! I think the Hip should play a song for the opening of HNIC on CBC and pump out some ads for this thing. That first Montreal/Toronto game saturday will be watched by millions, perfect opportunity. It'd be a shame if this thing comes and goes without any fanfare, they deserve to be recognized and appreciated for all they've done musically. I guess it might be a different story if they were packing it in all together. If MuchMusic wasn't such a pansy ass hip-hop channel now an all-day retrospective and dare I say performance/interview would be amazing! But not now, going on MM now would just make you look worse.
I realize that now there's Much More Music and Much Music Retro and Much Loud and all that but remember when the HIP used to be on Much all the time?I think the last time they were on Much was Intimate and Interactive at the release of M@W. But yeah the HNIC idea is great and the new dvd surely will be mentioned and plugged on Much probably not to the extent it deserves..... I'm also thinking that NO THREAT will be released?? If so, any day now??
I also think it's high time that a Canadian host SNL and have the HIP as the musical guest again.

I think you will start seeing this advertised on CBC and other outlests as soon as Hockey gets going. What better way to advertise the Hip than in between hockey stopagges.
HNIC is how they launched VC, so it's not out of the realm of possibility...

And has anyone noticed that MAv hasn't been around as much lately? Perhaps something is in the works, and being the dedicated fans we all are, we're just anxious. I'm not writing off a huge promotion yet.
There probably isn't a huge budget for advertising it, so strategic advertising will work best, as much as you can over a short period of time is my guess

Im not going to let the dumb-ass media or anything else ruin this for me, its time celebrate and shout! This box set is going to kick ass and the new album will be here in spring followed by a tour, Im already getting goose-bumps! HIP HIP HIP!!!!!!!!!!!!
