Canada Dry

We were shining like Aurora Borealis
Like Sid sipping from the Stanley chalice
Balling in a bus across the USA
Dumb enough to think that it would stay that way

Lounging in the living room in long johns
More distant than Victoria to St. John's
Trying to use a record to repair my heart
I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to start again

My friend

You're leaving me high and Canada dry
I'm out of your head and I'm losing my mind
Listening to Neil is making me cry
You're leaving me high and Canada dry

Sinking like a Saskatoon sunset
Thinking that we had it from the outset
Tommy said that life was a highway, dear
But I became the road kill when you oversteered
Oh why, oh why?

You're leaving me high and Canada dry
I'm out of your head and I'm losing my mind
Now listening to Joni's making me cry
You're leaving me high and Canada dry

High

You fled the snow, while I stayed here
I'll let you know, I'll make it clear
How happy I appear

High and Canada Dry
I'm out of your head and I'm losing my mind
Listening to Gordie is making me cry
You're leaving me high
You're leaving me high
You're leaving me high
And Canada dry

High and Canada dry

Songwriters: Ed Robertson / Kevin Griffin
I was going to post something similar this morning about Canada Dry. Listened to the album for first time on my way to work and noticed the Gord reference. I'll be seeing them next week in Ottawa and based on this tour's setlists they've played ABAC twice and CHANCELLOR!!! twice. Crossing my fingers.
This is a fantastic performance of a tribute song written for Gord by Our Lady Peace: "Ballad of a Poet". Maida beautifully describes the atmosphere at a Hip concert with the lines, "Came on like a mountaineer, exploring beauty through the syllables and cheers, there was something different in the air, something magical, the crowd was unprepared." He also throws in a reference to Smalltown Bringdown and Gord's Canadian tuxedo.

A live version of this was posted earlier but this one is professionally shot and worth the listen:

I seen OLP in Detroit a week after GD passed and they played this as part of the encore. Very touching and well done (and I'm not a huge OLP fan)... Total class. :thumb:
Just saw the trews in Kingston and Serena Ryder joined them onstage for ahead by a century.
The whole place sang along. Very moving moment.

Saw them do this in London on Saturday. I think it was pretty...meh. Too bad they didn't go with a better song. First time I ever saw The Arkells was when they opened up for The Hip in London in 2009 at Rock The Park. They talked about that show a bit before the cover..
From Strombo's show... Amos and The Transparent doing Giftshop.

Alexisonfire is doing 4 nights at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto this week, and Dallas Green snuck a little bit of Locked into one of the songs... Did the same thing on Night #1, and Dallas had to turn away multiple times to wipe away tears.
