They've been on tour for the last couple of months, and the dude is pushing 50. Considering the hard-rock/punkish nature of most of their catalogue, I imagine it must wreak havoc on his vocal chords. These guys aren't young anymore. Eddie Vedder recently had to cancel one of Pearl Jam's European shows because he had completely lost his voice.

Also a lifetime 2 pack a dayer. He'll either have to go back to drums or Mellancamperize and use it.

I didn't take my camera out as it would have just spoiled the moment, but second song in the encore Gord S gave a small speech, started to get chocked up and was able to get out "this is for Wicapi Omani". They then broke into Wheat Kings with Gord and Emily taking turns on the verses. Glad I was there to see.
Looks like a video is up, doesn't have Gord's speech beforehand though.

Someone on the Pearl Jam forum mentioned that they've been using Downie's "Faith Faith" during their pre-show PA music. That's awesome.
Johnny Fay showed up at the Stereophonics gig in Toronto tonight and stepped behind the kit as the Stereos covered Blow At High Dough and Locked In The Trunk Of A Car. Believe me when I say that Blow could have been an album cut it was that good. Kelly Jones also did a solo Fiddler's Green to start the encore.
I took about three minutes of video during Blow before I said to hell with it and started to sing. What a moment to be part of.

Found a couple of clips. Unfortunately the person recording is singing through a lot of it, which gets annoying (apologies if you're on this forum, lol). Awesome performance though! It's great seeing Johnny back behind the kit.

I've seen worse covers and I'm no Nickelback hater but it never fails to amaze me that even professional singers have trouble staying in key for Hip covers. It's like there's a secret GD note that only he could hit. Females (Sarah Harmer, Feist, etc) seem to do it the most justice. Even the best male singers always sound strained and uncomfortable.
