This album is god damn fantastic. I feel like it's going to climb in my rankings towards some of their best and I certainly haven't felt that way about a new hip album in quite sometime. So damn bitter sweet.
I feel like MMP was the album I wanted to follow up IBE. Experimental, gritty, visceral, and a wall of sound with a ton of layers. Kevin Drew and Dave Hamelin did an awesome job as well
Surprised "Hot Mic" isn't getting much love on here yet. Right now that's my favourite track. That could have been recorded 22 years ago during the Day For Night sessions and fit right in.
Anyone in the greater Edmonton area know where they are selling the Vinyl? I have a friend adventuring down this weekend...
I gave in and went to a local shop in Hamilton, (cheapies) instead of waiting Amazon to ship it.

Totally worth it, They were having a listening party for the album. Free beer, pizza and chips just for walking in the door. Picked up the vinyl, listened to it in the store and enjoyed a beer. Great evening.

Love it!
I am on the 4th song now, In sarnia, i think it took me 30 minutes to get passed song 1 and 2.

I heard the single once before, and purposely avoided it. I hate when one song on an album gets played out.

I am fully completely in love with what I've heard thus far. "Man" is INCREDIBLE

Gord is absolutely killing it with emotion. Vintage Hip. *tear to my eye*

I bought mine at HMV here in Vancouver. I'm sure all of their Edmonton locations would have it as well.

Ditto here. I'm so happy in this current moment. Sitting around a campfire. 3-4 plays through album... feel like I did after hearing "we are the same" the first time all the way through.

I hope we get some thorough treatment of this album during tour, but I recognize that might be too much to ask. ...

Sarnia... machine.... Fuck so good.
Great album, really digging What Blue so far

Literally just came back to talk about this track
Found a nice review of the new album here. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://exclaim.ca/music/article/the_tragically_hip-man_machine_poem">http://exclaim.ca/music/article/the_tra ... chine_poem</a><!-- m -->
I've listened through twice, which isn't enough time to fully digest all that is going on here, but the slow burn intensity that permeates the album is striking on a visceral level. Dozens of more listens will reveal as to whether we have Hip greatness again, but At this point I can say that MMP clearly separates and frees itself from the Bob Rock Years in a way that Now For Plan A failed to do. Bobrockruinedthehip, but it appears Kevindrewanddavehamelinsavedthehip.
