Not too weird. They have done it on occasion in the past:

Songwriters:
Baker, Robert Edwin;
Downie, Gordon Edgar;
Fay, John Philip;
Langlois, Paul Joseph;
Sinclair, Robert Gordon;

So all these years, The Hip haven't had two Gordies, but rather two Robbies?

Day For Night, matured by 20+ years, traveled to outer space to meet Trouble at the Henhouse, drop acid, fall in love, and conceive this masterpiece.

This. Absolutely this.

Played it three times on the drive from Orillia to Burlington last night. Got better with each listen. What Blue, Here, In The Dark and Machine stood out right away.

An aside. I was in Burlington for first night of Sound of Music. It was "Pretend You're Back In High School Night," featuring Soul Asylum and The Killjoys. As my buddy and I were walking back to our cars, we took stock of what we just saw. Unsurprisingly, neither of us were all that impressed by the bands at this stage in their careers (although, I was shocked by the number of Killjoys songs I can still sing every word to - stupid CanCon). Third song of the night for Soul Asylum was "Misery."

"That's probably my favourite Soul Asylum song," I said. "I remember it being all over the radio the summer I first got into The Hip. To think, there was a moment where I was an equal fan of both bands."

He looked at me for a second. "Boy, did you ever make the right choice."

An album like this - so challenging yet so sonically pleasing, some 30 years into a career - solidifies just how great of a choice that was.

Reading your story just made my day! Awesome!
It's just so heavy man. Knowing it's the final Tragically Hip album may be tainting my judgment. As it stands right now I'm pretty sure this album is freaking brilliant.

Yes. There is also a track on the previous Queen album called Machines (Back to Humans)...interesting

Yep!
For anyone in Winnipeg, the fine people at Music Trader are giving free MMP posters away. There was maybe like 2 or 3 left. They are about 18x24.

Did you by any chance see if they have vinyl copies of the album? I'd like to pick that up today as well.

Maybe I'm being far too optimistic.... but nobody in the band has said that or ever indicated that.

Hell, they could be in Bath laying something down as we speak.

Any of them drive a gold SUV? :lol:
I could totally see the band playing this album top to bottom on this tour
