That'll be a dandy of a show.
So what do we think? Will the US get anymore shows this fall? Maybe it's my imagination but this seems like substantially few dates than the World Container and We Are The Same tours. Understandable as they get older but I thought they might play more shows to offset selling fewer records.

I've got my fingers crossed for more U.S. dates as well. I'm actually saving some of my vacation time for the fall just in case they do another west coast swing. Right now it's not looking like any more American dates will happen, but you never know. Clearly they're happy doing the Canadian festival thing over the course of the summer. Canada is still their bread and butter, and obviously they get paid a lot more for big outdoor festival gigs in Canada than they do for small/mid-sized venues in the States. The extra cash from festival shows probably makes up for the dwindling record sales.

????
C'mon Waterfront show in Bangor, Maine!
This looks promising ... from thehip.com:

"Our partners at Maple have worked with us to improve The Tragically Hip Fan-Club pre-sale experience. Your seat locations will now be presented to you during the purchase process. In case of high volume, a virtual queuing system will manage your place in line and indicate your approximate wait time in queue. These enhanced features offer our Fan-Club members a seamless pre-sale ticket purchasing experience."

Thank Shiva, it's about time something like this went into effect.
am i the only person who thinks the price for 1 ticket is 146 dollars is fucking outrageous? such a shame it's come to this for this band. Glad I got my 20 shows in while it was relatively cheap, these may be the last for me. Probably only going to do 1 at that price too.

really disappointing.

No, you are not.

Phish is playing the molson Amp this summer and Im sitting in the pit for $60, DMB pit tickets are $80. The light show and setlist variation for those two bands absolutely blow the Hip out of the water and provide value that just isnt there with Hip tickets. I agree, it is a shame.
PJ tix for the London ON show went for $71.25 all fees and taxes included, if you could get them. That was the price for any seat in the venue.
The Orpheum in Vancouver is a notoriously expensive venue for bands to play. Dan Mangan mentions this a few times in his CBC doc that chronicles the weeks leading up to his show there. Sure, it was The Hip who ultimately made the call to play this venue. I just think with the entourage they're travelling with now (Re: their families) they're not keen on just breaking even anymore.

I GOT TICKETS TO THAT BABY!!! wife and I are making the trip.

SUCH BULLSHIT ABOUT THE HIP....honestly nothing in the concert going world has pissed me off so much as this. :censored These guys are blue collar boys, with beer drinking tunes, it's going to alienate fans like crazy. It's TWO DAYS of work to go to the show for some young people.

I wont be going to both shows in Vancouver for the first time since I missed 1 of the 4 commodore shows in 2006. At least I score front row for the second night at the Orpheum, but goddam what a shit load of money it is, especially with PJ, Phish and DMB prices listed above. :nooooo
To rant on this a little more, a few other ticket prices:

Osheaga 3 day pass: $235 after service fees/taxes
Arts & Crafts field trip: $93 after fees (12+ bands!)
The Grove music fest: $60 (11 bands)

If people are paying it, I guess the Hip would be leaving money on the table to not charge it. Im very thankful to have seen them them play Rochester and Syracuse this fall, those were the best Hip shows of the last few years for me by far.
I guess it depends on the venue they're playing. GA tickets for the outdoor show at Millennium Park in Calgary are $65, which isn't bad in my opinion. Fancy soft-seater shows like the Orpheum are always going to be more expensive. Although I agree with pretty much everyone here that the prices for those shows are insane. I suppose I wouldn't mind paying around $70-$80 for front row. But anything over $100 is outrageous, especially for a band I've already seen a bazillion times.
