The rumour around Newfoundland is that the hip are one of the openers at the Salmonfest. Would love to see them this summer but wish they were a headliner. We'll see.

Interesting. The headliner must be somebody huge, otherwise the Hip would be at the top of the bill. Who would they possibly be opening for? Rush maybe??

You think a promoter would have put together a Tragically Hip / Pearl Jam show in Canada by now...

My ultimate wet dream double-bill. Frankly I'm amazed the two bands haven't crossed paths after all these years. Although maybe they have, and I was just unaware at the time. I'd love to hear Pearl Jam cover a Hip tune.

On one of the Much Music specials on The Hip from the '90s there is a clip of two of the band doing a radio show and DJ mentions that "two guys from this new band Pearl Jam" wanted to come to the show that night. Can't remember it exactly off the top of my head though; I'm sure the clip is in one of the grab bags.

That double bill is probably one of the few things that could ever make me want to go back to Downsview Park by choice again.
"Pearl Jam is the Pearl Jam of Canada" -GD

I can't picture PJ covering any Hip songs. I also can't ever see a double-bill with the two bands. As much as I love them both, I just don't think they fit together.

I think Fire In The Hole, On The Verge, and The Wherewithal would all be good candidates. I would say though that the double bill option would be a little too much, assuming the Hip go first I'm not sure I would have enough energy for a PJ show.
Rumour is the eagles or bon jovi. Anyways we will hopefully find out tomorrow. They would play roughly 15 songs. Thats what cheap trick played opening last year for aerosmith. I'm hoping rumours are right. I need a hip concert right now. My last one was the ottawa bluesfest 2 years ago.

Yuck. I hate both of those bands, and the Hip would easily wipe the stage with either of them.
I agree. Not a fan of either band. I'd take a hip show now. Its being announced at 11:30 newfoundland time. I'll update then
Eagles, the hip and blue rodeo. July 13 grand falls, nl. Announcement just made.
