I dont think he's playing a "bully role" that's not his style. I think he's just telling it like he sees it, and he has every right to do so. And more often than not he's spot on imo. The man has strong opinions and I respect him for it. In fact he did me a personal favor recently and I had the pleasure of meeting the man, he's actually a very nice fellow.

i just caught half of the story, but wow, those Norwegians are great sports

to think that a coach helped a Canadian ski team when a pole broke, and that allowed them to take the silver, while their own team gets bumped to fourth...all i have to say is norway is now my 2nd favourite country to cheer for in Turin....

I like the fact that just because I'm not brainwashed into idolizing every Canadian athlete and I have differing opinions, somehow I'm a whiner. It's refreshing to see such a tolerant society of people here.

BTW, I could care less if Wotherspoon wins a medal or not. I don't give two shits who wins medals. The Canadians winning gold medals don't affect my life in any way, shape, or form. I suppose it's the hype that is more annoying than the actual athletes. Also, why should these athletes be worshipped when they win but let off the hook when they lose? Are they in some way better than professional athletes? Why is it alright to criticize Jarome Iginla but not to criticize Wotherspoon?

Well, I guess you have a point. It doesn't take money out of my pocket. I guess it's the principle of it. I've heard how the athletes would do better with more funding and I get the feeling that isn't the case. When athletes don't get the gold they come home and demand more funding. Well, more money isn't going to stop a speed skater from falling down like a baby deer. More money can't rid some of the athletes of the mental part that is preventing them from winning.

Well, I don't "worship" any athlete, so I don't know what to tell you here. Sure, I cheer for Leafs, but I'm hardly praying to them. Maybe it's because I'm used to the losing. :lol:

I really can't think of anyone that I know ever having called Jarome Iginla a "choker", but let's go with that comparison.

Do you honestly think Iginla's track record in hockey comes anywhere close to these accomplishments?

For the record, this is not to disparage Iginla - he is obviously a fantastic hockey player. But I do think it is pretty funny that you call Wotherspoon a choker because he didn't have a good race at the Olympics. Get some perspective.

Hey I agree, but then again I dont give a shit about the Olympics to begin with, boooring. I only watch the hockey, and thats only because the pro's are there, otherwise I wouldnt bother.

i was raised in a house where the olympic were a huge deal....so it always gets exciting this time of year for me..then again..i was raised watching wimbledon as well
