It's showing me at a whopping 0 down and 0 up. Hmm. Guess it's better than being shown as a leach. I still have both my windows open, just nobody is taking anything off me. Should I get this Azureus program you all are talking about? What exactly does it do?

Quick question: how do I NOT become a leech? I don't wanna be one, but I have no idea how to be a "seed"... can someone enlighten me so that I'm not blacklisted for all of eternity?

With bittorrents a leech doesn't really exist in that sense. When you download a torrent you're also sharing that torrent with others. Similar to other peer to peer type programs like Kazza etc, you're uploading to someone else who wants the same files as you.
Once you've completed your download of the file you wanted, if you leave it (the bittorrent client) up and running you've stopped downloading but you are now a seeder and uploading to others trying to complete their files. The more seeders the better for everyone. Make sense?

But how about if your client is disconnected after you've finished downloading? Ordinarily, I just re-connect and it automatically begins to seed...However, my connection was terminated accidentally by someone else in my house and when I tried to re-open it (I had planned to leave the client running indefinitely after pulling down the first Boston show the other night), all I got was a "Download Successful!" message box (i.e. it wouldn't re-initiate the seed)...

Now, is this simply a function of there being no leeches on the board at the time I tried to re-connect?

Yup. If there are no leechers, there's not going to be any uploads on your connection. :thumb:

That's what I figured (logically)...I wasn't sure if it would allow you to get into the seed "queue" or not for when the next leech to came along...

So the moral of this story is: until we start to see longer lists of leechers, don't disconnect if you want to keep your ratios up! :thumb:

Chris, I wanted to send out a *HUGE* thank you for posting this show. During my junior year of high school I was the director of our drama club prouduction. Long story short, when the show was over the cast got me a hip boot as a thank you gift (one of the kids in the show was into trading Phish shows, and schemed the hip show off a friend). As much as I appreciated the discs, it was a *fake* show. Some of the songs were taken from the Bill's Bar 8-12 show, and others from a radio broadcast. The version of Nautical Disaster from the 8-12 show has long remained my favorite. Getting to hear the show in it's correct entirety 4 years later, is amazing. Again, thanks. :thumb:

I've noticed that a number of users are having difficulty with the sharing idea behind the tracker. Some of us have uploaded over 6 gigabytes, while others haven't even reached 6 megabytes - but in both cases have downloaded significant amounts.

I don't want to have to police the site, and ban users because they aren't contributing, but it's going to come to that.

My stats haven't been updated in forever Chris... my ratio is still ok, but I'm pretty sure that I downloaded and uploaded like a gig more than it says I did. Am I crazy, or is this actually possible?

well my sister screwed around with my comp and deleted the syracuse show, though i did already have it on cd. So heres what i'll do, i will re-download the show(which im doing now) and I will seed the show for the next day or so so more people to get it.

I would seed more, but my sister has a thing of resetting my computer which kills seeding shows

Ths system only updates the main stats page when you stop and restart any of your downloads. There is no live updating as it puts too much of a strain on the MySQL database. I could add in live updating, but the extra usage may shut down the site - or cost me more money (which would mean I'd shut it down.)

Additionally, I have received a lot of comments saying "I leave my window open for a really long time after I am finished downloading, but no one seems to download from me." This is probably because you have your software/hardware improperly configured. In order to achieve the highest download speeds, and allow others to download from you, you must have ports 6881-6889 on your firewall open, and directed to your computer.
