Peel Pub - gone.
Poutine place... if you are referring to Lino's - gone.
Ah, Lino's. I shed a tear in your honour. Ditto the Shot. And Shoeless Joe's finally closed down. It's just a miracle it didn't happen sooner.
Another good spot: the Brewpub, which is a ten-minute walk, tops, from the venue. The more I read/contribute to this thread, the more baffled I am I didn't get a ticket to this show... :x
Why do I have horrid fears that all my Queen's haunts will be no more when I get there. So help me God, if Stooley's isn't serving the chicken broth fries, I will riot.
I vote either the Merchant or the Nog for pre, Toucan for after. Just, whatever we do, let's stay away from the Plaza. This will be a weekend in Kingston free of the ballet (and I mean it this time).
Cheers,
Pat
Everytime a pre show thread gets started I get hungry
Rumours of The Hip performing an acoustic set at Wally High's Funeral.
R.I.P WALLY HIGH
Shoeless Joe's has closed but a great new sports bar called Fanatics opened in its place. It's decent, lots of screens, trendy interior, and the food is amazing. People should check that spot out too, perhaps pre-show if you are looking for food.
How sure is anyone that the LVEC is going to be open in time? it's not lookin' so good
Being the poor Queen's student I am, I envy all of you going. Be sure to post stories! Seconding the Kingston Brewing Company for pre/post show drinks, was there two nights ago for a buddy's birthday, very cool place. And for those spending the night: brunch at Morrison's is a must.

Is there spe culation that this will happen?
I have also heard the rumor about the headstones opening
A guy I play hockey with is a contractor at the LVEC right now and said that there's still a tonne of work that needs to get done to be ready on time....
defintiely hope it gets done for those people traveling vast distances to see the show!!!
It better get done on time. I should sold my tickets for the Rangers vs. Sabres on the 23rd so I could go to the hip show.
If the Hip have an opening band... than this concert is pointless

.
An opener means... The Hip won't be the first band to play in the new arena :music
I have an extremely sad story!!
I carry the label.. "Kingston's largest HIP fan"...
and I did not buy a ticket!!
HELP!!
When the presale happened... I thought, hmmm behind the stage? no good, how will I see the show? So I thought, I'll just wait...WELL guess what?
too late
If anyone ends up with ONE little old ticket they need to sell... please get in touch!!
and no, the HIP did not perform at Wally's funeral... coulda been one hell of a band with all the talent in that church.. Sarah sang at the grave, bless her...
I've heard the Trews are rumoured to open..
we'll see...
tina

three sets!

I hate to fuel the "Pearl Jam / Hip" debate... but Eddie Vedder would sometimes come out before the opening band and sing 'You've Got To Hide Your Love Away'.
Gord could / should do this once in a while:
Chancellor
Oh Honey
As I Wind Down The Pines
Goodnight Josephine
Pretend
or even... his absolutely jaw dropping version of Hallelujah
