It said on the radio today that tickets to The Tragically Hip are expected to be sold out by this weekend. The Hip concert has set a new landmark for ticket sales to a FOL concert! How awesome is that! There have been some big names at the Lights over the years too, acts like Live, Nickelback, Hootie & the Blowfish, 3 Doors Down, Lifehouse, Blue Rodeo, Tom Cochrane, April Wine and many others.

Anyone know what the parking situation is like in downtown C'town on a Friday afternoon? We plan on being there around 3-4 PM, coming from Halifax...

the outdoor venue of the show is kind of south/east from there (10 min walk maybe) but lots of shops and whatnot along the way, including the confed building one street over

I was expecting the Festival people to post some maps as to where and when things are taking place as well as parking. I would imagine Charlottetown near the waterfront will be a very busy spot, and finding a parking space will be near impossible.
I'm camping in Cavendish for the weekend. My wife isn't going to the Hip with me so I'll be dropped off and picked up.
BTW. You can link from googlemaps. At the top right hit "link to this page"

Turn the satellite view on and there is an oval shaped rec area. Should I assume this is the place the Concert series is taking place?
Tigerthelion and kleh will be our tour guides

Parking is at a premium. The last concert I saw in there, I parked a few streets down on Pownal Street. It isn't a far walk at all. Queen Street and Water Street were all full. Rory, you may find some paid parking lots open along Water St but I doubt it. I would head along Water St and head up Queen and Pownal for spots. There are spots available within walking distance downtown, you just may have to search a few blocks to find them.
Highlander, getting dropped off and picked up is the way to go. :thumb:

Ah, so it was the spot I thought. Figures, since it looked to be the largest open area on the waterfront. Cool stuff.
What time we lining up? I give cuts for Hipbasers

Does anybody know what the ticket pick-up situation is going to be like? Online purchases yield a "will-call" pickup... and I'm hoping that its organized enough so there's no massive line.

hard to say, in 2004 when i picked up my tickets there was about a 20 min wait, but this was after the doors were opened...
as for being a tour guide this could work, i'm off work until july 5th!! but the tentative plan right now is to head back to s'side after the show, but if anybody wants to hang out over the next few days i could show yas around cavendish/summerside or whatever other location you'd like,
please note i dont have a car :what
edit : just remember i have a bachelor party to attend canada day

In 2004 i got off work early & stopped in to get my tickets before i went home to get ready, this was a couple hours before the concerts started and there wasn't a single person in front of me.

God i hope it doesn't rain Friday night! Driving home from work last night around 8pm in that downpour, it brought back flashes of Default/Nickelback in 2003 and Sam Roberts in 2004. It now its raining again today, supposed to rain again Sunday...

That would be awesome! And the single passes to the June 30th are now officially sold out. There are still some weekend passports available though.
