Fargo is a good movie.

I can't help but laugh at the people of Minnesota who hate the movie because some people think it represents the people of the state. Why would anyone give a s**t what people thought about how they talked? I swear some people need to just chill out and not be so sensitive.

Except when I watched Hockey Night in Canada EVERY saturday night. THEN I sounded like I was from Ontario :wink:

I thought Shrek 2 was funny, but I can't compare it to the first one because I didn't see it. I thought the Murphy and Banderas were splendid!

Well had a chance to hit Saw last weekend and it was great, rented Day after Tomorrow last night and thought it was very well done -- I was afraid they'd ruin it with some crummy love story like they did in armageddon, but they didn't (although there was one kiss)

And I went and saw Birth (with Nicole Kidman) last week also -- whatever you do people do not waste your money. Send your twenies through a paper shredder or give them to a bum, it will be more worth it.

On the Shawshank subject - yup I love it along with almost everyone else around here. Someone posted about not liking it or something like that... well go pick up a copy of Different Seasons by Stephen King and give it a read. Different Seasons is a collection of 4 novellas by SK, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption is one of them -- only 90 pages. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best book-to-movie adaptation (there are like 2 or 3 minor changes), and watching it just reinforces how excellent and how strong of a story it is.

Adding to mob movies, totally agree with A Bronx Tale (didja know Bobby DeNiro wrote & directed this one?)/Donnie Brasco/Goodfellas, you can't not mention Casino -- one of my all time favs.

Eternal Sunshine was awesome, what a conversation piece it was too, me and a couple friends saw it together and we talked all night.

Went and saw "Motorcycle Diaries" on saturday. I thought it was great. It's subtitled, so those not into reading during their movietime probably wouldn't enjoy it, but the story is great and the scenery is fantastic. Two thumbs up.

Saw Farenheit 911 yesterday. Good movie.

However, I don't trust Moore or Bush so I don't know what to think :lol:

Best part of the movie had to be the lady who had the son who died in Iraq and that bitch came up and started to give her shit in front of that protestor at the White House. ERRRRRRR. That poor mother.

Moore always does make great movies.

Oh and great end title music. My favorite Neil Young song "Rockin in The Free World"

I watched a LOT HNIC when I was a teenager. I can't get Canadian TV anymore but back in the day I watched HNIC EVERY sat. night, when it was on, and I'd say thing like ABOOT! and AROOND!

I know it's an old topic but I saw Million Dollar Baby the other day and it was fantastic. Freeman and Eastwood were hysterical and I'm becoming a bit of a Hilary Swank fan now. She was great. It was classic Eastwood. Warning though---- don't watch it if you are very sensitive and afraid to cry at movies. The ladies in the row behind were were crying their eyes out.

Also, all three Austin Powers movies are all time great comedies in my books.

Personally, I can't recommend any Valentine's Day flicks. I'm not too well informed about that genre.

just saw it the other day myself..wow..what a movie..very emotional...i was glued to the screen the entire time...

I saw Hotel Rwanda last week. Incredible film. Very powerful and wonderfully acted. Don Cheadle was fantastic.

Just saw Million Dollar Baby today....wow, great movie! I love Hillary Swank anyway but she really did an extra awesome job. I agree also, Freeman and Eastwood were nothing less than perfect once again :thumb:

Just watched the Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy back to back on the weekend, pretty cool movies! The second wasnt as interesting as the first but together they made a great movie, I dont know how Damon pulled those fight scenes off...two and half thumbs up! That and I watched Big Trouble in Little China for the millionth time yesterday!

Both Bourne movies were pretty darn good. I like the first better but the second was great too. I am a pretty big fan of Damon's work.

i think for the season, christmas vacation("when santa squeezes his fat ass down the chimney, he's gonna see the jolliest bunch of assholes he's seen this side of the nuthouse!!!"), a christmas story and a nightmare before xmas should all be viewed, and of course, as mentioned in another thread...christmas eve on sesame street

its always personal opinion, but lately on dvd "the exorcism of emily rose" was quite good. it's a nice departure from traditional horror films, most of which are cheap an unimaginative lately. In theatres: "king kong" is a must-see on the silver-screen. don't expect special-effects too much better than lord of the rings(save for v-rex and kong), but good story(faithful to the original) and some great action sequences.
