Wow Rory - your experience is even cooler! I applied to be an extra in Shawshank, but I guess I looked too young and innocent to play a convincing hardened felon!
Just saw Fargo for the first time in a LONG while... damned if that isn't a great film.

"He's a little funny looking..."
Never seen Fargo, I should rent it sometime.

As for mob movies, Goodfellas is great. I also like Donnie Brasco a lot.

As for movie sets: I was in NYC in 1998, walking down Park Avenue when all of a sudden I found myself on the set of "The Out-of-Towners" with Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn. I hung out for a while, didnt get to see either one of them, just their stand-ins but it was fun to watch.

That's a good movie and the scenery is soooo beautiful - wow! :thumb:

I think my favourite movie of all time is The Unforgiven, love that movie(speaking of Eastwood, The Outlaw Josey Wales has some pretty funny parts) . Apocolypse Now is up there. Scariest movie ever, gotta say The Changling followed by The Candyman. I hate horror or suspense movies , I can hardly watch them, even with the lights on, especially ones with dead children, or child ghosts, nothing freaks me out more, i'm getting creeped just typing about them. Better put some music on . :what Funniest movie i've seen is Something About Mary, funniest hands down.
just saw Big Fish for the first time last night...wow...made me weep like a little baby....tim burton's masterpiece

Ok Jen - will do. :thumb:

What about The English Patient? It's a long movie but another good one. Any fans?
Just saw "Ray" the other day. Great film. Unbelievable performance by Jamie Foxx. He's bound to get an Oscar nod for this one.

My favorite movie: Schindler's List

on the topic of where movies are made. I live about 30 minutes from the bridge that appears in the Michelle Pfiffer(sp?)/Harrison Ford movie "What Lies Beneath". After you cross that bridge it's not to far from where they built the houses that appeared in that movie. Both houses were torn down after the filming and the stone pavillion was rebuilt, after all they did film the movie a Vermont state park!

I'm also about an hour and a half from Burlington but I think Joshwayy owns the bragging rights to "Me Myself and Irene"

Kim,

definitely see Fargo and if you go to Minnesota, they don't all talk like that. I mean yeah they KINDA sound like that but not as thick. Plus, Fargo is in SOUTH DAKOTA not Minnesota. I remember when I lived in the Twin Cities, some people hate that movie there because people think it's about Minnesota and that all Minnesotans talk like that when in reality, Fargo is like AT LEAST two hours north of the Twin Cities.

My fave scene is the scene with Frances Macdermont and the two girls "Oh so you were having sex with the little guy were yah?" THat's my fave line and you can ask ktown, I can nail it! lol

Oh you betcha I can vouch for the fact they say "Yah" I still say it today lol
and they do say "You betcha"

Fargo is a good movie.

I can't help but laugh at the people of Minnesota who hate the movie because some people think it represents the people of the state. Why would anyone give a s**t what people thought about how they talked? I swear some people need to just chill out and not be so sensitive. I was born in Newfoundland for cripes sakes but I could care less what people say about Newfies. I was raised on PEI for the majority of my life, and don't have the Newfie accent but when people ask me I say proudly that I was born in Newfoundland. I think the Newfie jokes are hilarious. I also think that saying "eh" like the Canadian I am is great! It doesn't bother me in the least that other people think Islanders or Newfies or Canadians in general are hicks. I wouldn't care if someone told me I talk like a Newfie or Cape Bretoner or if they told me I had a Toronto vibe. It's all good eh! :thumb:

I know I was commenting on how Bostonians talk. I'm sure they don't care what others think. They speak a certain way, as I speak a certain way. If they want to make fun of how P E Islanders speak, then good for them. It's cool.

Well I know we have a few Minnesotan on the board but with my experiences in Minnesota, I lived there for seven months, Minnesota is a horse of a different color.

I love accents and people automatically assume since I'm from New York State I'm going to sound like I'm from NYC. I don't. I sound more like I'm from New England or English and French Canada. Where I live now, I have a bit of an Albany/NYC influence but where I grew up I sounded like I was Canadian or from New England more than anything. Except when I watched Hockey Night in Canada EVERY saturday night. THEN I sounded like I was from Ontario
Hey folks...

Just watched Shrek 2 for the second time, first time on DVD. A good movie, but I didn't find it as good as the first. Granted, it has amazing laughs, and Antonio Banderas steals the show, but it doesn't have as much "punch" as the first one...

Any other thoughts?

Rory
Shrek 2 was good... but it'll never beat anything Pixar puts out. Anyone seen The Incredibles? Funniest movie I've seen in a long time... and that counts my viewing of Shrek 2 yesterday.

I don't think 2 was as good as the first either, but it had its good moments.
