Was thinking about "Spoon" today and taking my older son (9 at the time) to his first concert -- Toronto #2 in August 2016 -- and how that song broke my heart when I heard it two weeks after Gord died and how I cried in the car with my two sons and how they looked at me so scared and bewildered and how my younger son asked me what happened to Gord Downie and when I told him, he then asked me if I would cry if HE got brain cancer and how I cried so much to myself in those few weeks for someone I never met. And then thought about Son on Secret Path which is another song that sets me off:

Even as the world convulses
Don't stop wishing what you wish
Even as the world convulses
Even as the world convulses
Don't stop wishing the things you wish
Don't stop wishing what you wish

And when something stirs in your heart
A feeling so strong and intense
When something occurs in your heart
And there isn't a next sentence ...

I've been randomly selecting bootlegs off the google drive to listen to and trying to focus more on the shear happiness this band has brought as opposed to the heartbreak. I feel very privileged to have seen the world's greatest live band as many times as I did.

Cheers to Gord and the boys!!
Sirius XM - The Verge has been doing a Hip takeover the past couple days in memory of GD.
They have been playing some pretty good hidden gem concerts on there as well as studio versions... For those of you with the service.
Still hard to believe he's gone. What a guy. What a talent. What a band.

Exactly....
My wife never really got why I went to see the Hip nearly anytime they were in the area (Detroit, Windsor, Toledo, Cleveland). Slow dancing to LTR in Cleveland about 6 ft from Rob Bakers pedals did the trick in 2015! Had several cocktails and a Hip playlist going on Wed night...here in the Detroit area. Dog gone it.... I miss these guys. I feel privileged I was sucked into the culture...that is The Tragically Hip and their wonderful music....

CBC Radio played The East Wind on Wednesday Oct 17 around 8:45am. I was driving along hwy 410 when it came on. The opening line of "Hello again my friends" leveled me. I knew then I should have not gone in to work and it turned out to be a long, sad and frustrating day.

I love that song so damn much.

Not just the song, the whole damn album. So solid, start to finish.
