Tons of Neil. Zero Hip.

I can only imagine that will change in the near future... maybe even at the long-rumoured Burl's Creek show this summer.

I'd put money on it....even if it's just a few shows. I don't want to change the thread theme but I can seriously see PJ killing Grace Too. Complete with McCready shreading the ending solo.

I can't see Ed being able to sing that properly.

New Orleans maybe? Yes an old warhorse, but I have always found it to be the most "Neil Youngesque" sounding song in the Hip catalog (musically anyways). PJ can cover NY like no other and I think Vedder's voice would lend well to NOIS.
Ottawa is naming one of the train cars on its new LRT system "Gord Downie"

Ouch. The Tragically Hip Wikipedia page just made me really sad.

Meh. Just trolls being trolls. Gord is an eternal member of The Hip
Yeah, there have been some edits back and forth on it. I think it's pedantic Wikipedia moderators considering The Tragically Hip to be an active band, because of no referable announcement of the end, and not much time having passed. Once the article says that the Tragically Hip were a band then the members will be listed together. Like the article for The Beatles etc.
Wonder if anyone else is finding this. I've been to more concerts since the Hip's final tour than I had in the 5 years preceding it. I've seen some really great shows with some of my favourite musicians BUT I always have a moment (or several) of sadness because no matter how great the concert is, it never feels the same as a Hip show. There isn't that same energy or charisma and ultimately I just wish I was seeing the Hip.
I've seen a lot of great shows over the years from many of my favorite bands. But from an emotional perspective, no show is ever going to touch the third Toronto date on the Man Machine Poem tour. There's just absolutely no way. Nothing could ever be more meaningful than that night, for myself, my wife, and our friends in attendance. And the guy in front of us dancing all night who I high-fived when Three Pistols began. Smile

Was at that one as well. I have never listened to Grace the same since, it just transcended into a completely different, more emotional song.

I saw the Ottawa show and the Kingston show. Kingston felt like more of a celebration, where Ottawa felt like goodbye.

I can't imagine seeing another show where I'm unsuccessfully holding back tears as 30 years of memories take over. I struggled to hold it together when they came out on stage in Ottawa, my wife cried through most of the show, the lady in front of us sat with her head in her lap sobbing through the whole encore. When the house lights came on at the end of the show in Ottawa, the people around me looked like a bleary eyes, snotty nosed mess of tears and emotion.

For Kingston, we doubled up on Kleenex -- tears really streamed for me when they played Grace, and I realized this was going to be the last time I'd every hear the band perform it live (I had no allusion that there would be more shows).

We went to see yhe Arkells play KROCK in the fall, and just walking into the building I felt sad -- luckily they put on a heck of a show.
Gord won the award for Best Original Music Non-Fiction for Secret Path at the Canadian Screen Awards.

Not sure if this has been mentioned here yet or not, but I just watched the 2018 Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony that aired on HBO and Gord was included in the In Memoriam segment. Here's a screencap of the image that aired:
