I've thought about this before an its an excellent point. I've noticed how during It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken live, the lighting has always been purple/violet (at least when I've seen it). I can't imagine it any other way.

For some reason the new art reminds me of the art for The Cars' 'Candy-o'.

...and as fer the Music@Work art talk earlier... I think you're all wrong and it may be my second favourite Hip album art, behind In Between Evolution. I once saw a GIF or maybe it was a quick video of how the art for Music@Work is layered and coloured. The art for Coke Machine Glow reminds me of Music@Work too, but appropriately, a stripped down version of it (this always made extra sense in my head as Music@Work came out in 2000, whereas Coke Machine Glow came out in 2001... sortof a stripped down continuation).

Also, this may be the 'lightest' coloured Hip art ever... they've never had a 'white' album.

That's what I like about it as well. It's almost the polar opposite of what the hardcore fans think a Hip cover should look like, and I really dig that. Someone posted earlier that it reminded them of something Death Cab for Cutie would use. I'd have to agree:

I agree, i always thought the IBE was cool looking and prob about the best merch the hip ever had to. I have a awesome GUS T-shirt and all the other clothing and stuff looks good, cool graphics with little characters n random things. IBE and FC are my fav art.

I don't think the Hip have ever really had a great album cover. Phantom Power and In Between Evolution are probably the best.

EP is awful.
Up to Here is even worse
Road Apples is bad
Fully Completely is interesting at least though ugly.
Day for Night would have been better if it was juts the art without the blue frame around it.
Trouble at the Henhouse doesn't have much appeal to me but it doesn't turn me off either.
Phantom Power is legitimately cool. Probably their best IMO
M@W is kind of cool as an aesthetic experiment but not really appealing.
In Violet Light looks nice but is also boring and seems cliche.
IBE is cool!
World Container is boring
We Are The Same is also boring and washed up looking.

By the standards of Hip album covers I think this is actually quite good. It is aesthetically very pleasing, shows style (which most don't), does something different, and has a wink to it.

I give it a thumbs up.

The music I've heard from the album thus far though, not so much.

Don't get your hopes up. I've enjoyed all the Hip shows I've been too, but every one in the last few years or so has been a scream session, as you say. I'm not sure if Gord's voice is just so wrecked that he can't sing live anymore or if he just isn't even trying to sing nicely anymore.

Either way it's not very appealing. At least for a while we got amazing rants with the screaming. Last couple years or so there haven't been any rants and we still get the screaming.

You are going to get differences of opinions on this one and I disagree with your comments and I have attended most of the concerts in the area including two this summer...

And "Plan A," therefore, off screen of the end of a twister game, the opposite of "Plan B," may (or may not) be taking place.

In that light, therefore, I think I very much like this album cover. Haven't we all learned by now, after a career spanning some 30 years, that lyrics, phrases, and imagery, may not be as they seem?
