Don't matter where you are in that building..it's going to be a hell of a show. Looking forward to it more than the last time I saw them for their last album. This new album is decent. I didn't like "I'm with you"

Great tune. Wonder what this guy's voice will sound like in 10 years? His singing sounds like it would be hard on the vocal cords.

I was at that concert as well. It was one of those "I don't ever want this to end because I'm having so much fun" shows.

I saw them last year. Adam Baldwin opened for them, whom I really like, so they were a nice surprise. . They put on a good show.

Yes sir!!
Go to edge.ca and check out their contest section. They have a contest to win 4 tickets for front row to the show next weekend.

Agreed! Saw him open for Matt in 2014 in London, ON. Matt came out and played a few songs with Adam, but I think Adam stole the show. Since then I've been going to see Adam any time he's in town. Best $8 concert ticket you'll ever spend. Normally plays small dive bars around here.
PS: fixed your YouTube video. You only need to post the last part of the link with all the letters, not the whole link with www.youtube.... Not sure why that is..

Just received word that a blues guitarist Steve Hill is opening for Matt Anderson. Gotta admit I never heard of the guy, but looked him up on Youtube. Holy hell that guy can play, looking forward to him now as much as Anderson.

Ended up grabbing tickets for the Trans-Canada Highwaymen in Kingston as well. That should be a good show.

I've got Blue Rodeo in Feb, Matt Good in March, Joel Plaskett in April and U2 in June on my schedule. However, my favorite time of the year is coming up this weekend: My Morning Jacket's One Big Holiday. This is a curated concert event over 4 nights at the Hard Rock Resort in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico. This is the 3rd time it's been held and it is an amazing event. The resort is closed for 4 days to just MMJ fans, totalling about 2000. Concerts start at 8:00 pm each night and run until about 1:00 am. MMJ plays three concerts, each over 2 hours and encompassing 20+ songs each night (with not one song being repeated). There is a different opening band each night and on one of the nights there is a different headliner. The concert courtyard is spacious, with the stage back drop being the Caribbean Ocean. Essentially you can get as close to the stage as you want and still have room to move. And they have servers that bring beer into the crowd on trays so that you don't even have to leave your spot to get a drink. It can't be beat!
Band that have joined them in the past include The Flaming Lips, Band of Horses, War on Drugs, and Dr. Dog. This year it's The Head and the Heart, Kurt Vile, Gary Clark Jr. and Deer Tick. The bands hang around the resort and participate in various activities. I've seen Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips host a pool-side lip sync contest, the guys from MMJ host a poker tournament, War on Drugs has taken guests on an excursion, and this year Kurt Vile is hosting tequila tasting event while Deer Tick does a live radio broadcast from pool-side. The bands are often accessible (I've talked to both Ben Bridwell (lead singer of Band of Horses) and Wayne Coyne as they were walking around the resort with their significant others) and there are always guests (Bob Weir joined MMJ for three Dead tunes a couple years ago).
Other bands have had their own mini-festivals as well at the Hard Rock in Mexico (The Avett Brothers are curating an event with Band of Horses and Jason Isbell for 4 days later in February) and I've often thought of how amazing it would have been for the Hip to do something like this. 2000 die-hard Hip fans, three shows on the beach in Mexico with no song repeats, a few other bands that are friends of the Hip joining them... it would have been something special.

Just back from the John K. Samson show in Vancouver. Nice mix of new material and Weakerthans classics, and his band sounds terrific. Highlight of the night was a killer version of "Confessions of a Futon Revolutionist".
