Why do you consider it a "misfortune"?
Jus' curious....
I dunno, I'm quite sure I saw the same show as anybody who's ever taken in AC/DC has seen..

Yeah, they've pretty much had the same live props and schtick the last 20+ years. That's what people expect to see I guess, and that's what they pay to see. You know what you're getting when you go to one of their shows.
Last weekend, I saw Joel Plaskett, Matt Mays and Sam Roberts here in Halifax. Massive show, loud as hell, and all in fine form!

This week I'll be seeing Wintersleep on Wednesday, and the Arkells on Friday. I can't wait.
Wow, quite the old thread revived
Saw Sarah Harmer at Higher Ground in Burlington this past Monday; sparse crowd because of the weather but Sarah and her band put on a great show. Still kinda wish I was living in the Buffalo area, I had more time and money to see bands in Buffalo, Cleveland or Toronto.
I am seeing Wintersleep with Wolf Parade tomorrow! I've been looking forward to it for ages. I think this will be the sixth time I've seen Wintersleep this year or something, and half the time it's accidental, but I love it every time.

Let me know what you think of Wolf Parade. They have become one of my favourite bands, and I will never miss a chance to see them.

Nice opening act, I get By Divine Right, who was a one hit wonder in the mid 90's lol.
I haven't heard from those guys (By Divine Righ) in a long, long time. Saw them opening for The Hip in '99.
2010 started off great for me concert wise, a month into the year i had already seen Blue Rodeo/Dustin Bentall Outfit/Kendal Carson, Colin James/Suzie McNeil, and Guns N' Roses/Sebastian Bach/Danko Jones...but has been pretty disappointing since. Took my niece to see Taylor Swift in July, and then nothing until Gord Downie last month.
Will be buying tickets on Friday though for Melissa Etheridge/Serena Ryder on March 7th in Charlottetown...and also considering getting Goo Goo Dolls tickets for February 12th, also on sale Friday.

Yeah, so Wolf Parade kicked my ass. Loud and tight and sweaty and interesting to watch, which is basically what I require out of rock & roll. I sort of figured they'd deliver, and now I am anxious to see them somewhere other than the House of Blues. It has pretty bad sound, and I am constantly surprised by the lack of a barricade in there, because jerks always think it is a great idea to jump on stage and play air guitar until security wades through the crowd to get up there and get them. Spencer seemed hugely unimpressed, and got steadily more wasted as the evening wore on. By the encore, he was drinking Jameson's straight out of the bottle, saying "you guys are so nice!" over and over, and missing the mic every time he tried to grab for it. His singing and playing, however, remained totally fantastic! Musicians, I love it.
Wintersleep did pretty well, I thought. It maybe wasn't the best set I've seen them play, but I feel like they definitely made some new fans. I was surprised that more of the people around me hadn't heard of them. I expected that when they opened for the Hold Steady, but I'd've thought Wolf Parade & Wintersleep would have more overlap. Anyway,
here is my cat with the setlist. I think this is the first time I've seen them that they didn't open with Drunk on Aluminum.
The opener opener was a Japanese band called Ogre You Asshole, and they were also pretty good. I was expecting terribleness, but they had a sort of a trippy psych-rock j-pop thing going on. I'm not sure how much I'd like an album of theirs, but I thought the live set was pretty decent.
Next week: Superchunk.

Serena Ryder is fantastic live. I saw her open for Ray Lamontagne and David Gray this summer at the Amphitheatre in Toronto. That was an incredible show by the way. Her voice is incredibly powerful.

I was at that show but didn't realize there was an opener.... so we missed her set completely.

Yeah, I had no idea there was going to be an opener either, let alone that it would be her. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out. She only played about 4 songs though.
First time seeing Wintersleep last night, and it won't be the last. They are absolutely amazing live. Miasmal Smoke blew my mind.

Right? I'm rarely as content as I am in the live Miasmal Smoke moment. It's somehow so huge and intimate at the same time.
