Man, I've been wanting to see R.Lamontagne for 3 odd years now...just never works out. And it looks as though he won't be touring the rest of Europe after his UK tour...bummer.

anyways, just wanted to report on 3 of the few concerts I've seen recently: Broken Social Scene, Sun Kil Moon and the Swell Season. All three great shows, but BSS would be better off in a smaller and less 'rock' oriented venue than the Elysee. I expected more out of the SKM show, and it seemed Mark Kozelek was a little cold with the crowd...cool venue, tiny and cosy and I was happy to see them finally. And I'll have the swell season setlist out in a bit. I would recommend this show to anyone...the band jumped into a very cool adhoc version of Eye of the Tiger when a fan yelled out 'yes we can' (the show was on Nov 5th).

I caught Feist w/ Hayden last night.
Mellowly awesome.
I went to Matt Mays & El Torpedo at the Phoenix last night. They put on an awesome show from start to finish, including covers of Dylan's Girl From The North Country the Stones' Wild Horses. The highlights of the night though were Terminal Romance, which ended the main set, and Cocaine Cowgirl, which ended the encore, and both of which went on for 10 mins +.

The opening act was the Arkells, from Hamilton. Their first LP just came out last week and they put on a great live show as well. They have a bit of a bluesy-type sound. I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

Saw Sammy Roberts last weekend in Hamilton. The show was amazing, and I thought the building was going to explode during the end of Mind Flood which closed out the set. Intense would be an understatement.
AC/DC last night at SkyDome.

They have a lot of songs that sound exactly the same.

And Angus's schtick during The Jack was identical to Sarstock...

Certainly not worth the $120 ticket price in my opinion.

Aw, sorry to hear it wasn't a good show Chris. I really like AC/DC but I think they'd make a better festival headliner than a show in their own right.

As for me, it's been a quiet time gigwise, but I'll be seeing QueenAdreena next week and the Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds a couple of days later.

It was a good show - just not for me. I imagine that 90% of the people leaving the 'Dome last night were over the moon with how awesome the show was.

Are the shows you're hitting for pleasure or work?

Queenadreena are more 'work', but Nick Cave will be pure pleasure, when we saw him earlier in the year, it was an amazing show! We're off to Paris the morning after too...

I thought it was worth the money :thumb:
I just had a week in which I saw the Who and Bob Dylan. So that was cool--but now, since I'm living in Calgary, a.k.a. the City Rock n' Roll Forgets for Most of the Year, I'm entering a barren stretch. Chris Cornell's here tomorrow, but I'm going to the Leafs game. Otherwise, ain't much interesting coming 'round.

Still, I heard the Who play "Naked Eye" and then saw Dylan from fifth row floors. That's awesome.
Michael Franti and Spearhead at the Kool haus last thursday. Probably top three concerts I have ever seen and I have seen a lot. What a fantastic performer. Everyone should listen to him if you haven't and see him when you get the chance, you will not be disappointed.

DBT tonight!!

Just saw Bob from the second row, ears still ringing. Killer show this time, much better than his '06 show at the JLC. Had a guest guitarist for the first 4 songs, I still don't know who he was.

Yeah, I found that last night. He was good.

It was the first 5 songs.
The Hold Steady and Drive By Truckers last night in Toronto. What a fantastic double bill. I knew nothing about the Hold Steady but they were a fantastic live band. The lead singer is the most Manic front man I have seen since Gord, different than Gord but just as passionate and somewhat crazy. A bit Elvis Costello and George Costanza in him.

DBT awesome as well, bit of a slow start but the last two thirds of the show were pure Rock and Roll bliss.
