I think Ovechkin proved that gretzky should have had a little more faith in some younger guys............

Where was Crosby, Staal, Spezza?? Get rid of some of the driftwood we had.........

and on a side note, Bertuzzi, even if you get rid of all the media hype in regrads to Moore etc...............does anyone think he truly deserved to be on team Canada?? I just never looked at that guy as an all star player ever?? cratch:

In 02/03 he had 46 goals and 97 points and finished 5th in the NHL in points. So yeah, at one point in his career he was most certainly an All Star. However, since that season he's put up 113 points in 128 games, which would equate to a 72 point season. Very good numbers, but not All Star.

However, the most telling stats of Todd Bertuzzi and probably the biggest reason why he should have been left off of Team Canada are his playoff numbers: 24GP, 6G, 8A, 14PTS, 82 PIMs

In other words, the bigger the game, the less productive he becomes and the more stupid penalties he takes.

I'm not pinning the loss on him alone - there are a number of guys who didn't show up - but I think it can certainly be argued that the decision makers should have paid a little more attention to those playoff numbers.
