I used to really like Ron McLean, but these days he just annoys the hell out of me. True, Bert's penalty was stupid and undisciplined, but it's not what cost us the game. They lost as a team, and not a single guy played up to his potential. End of story.

exactly..ron has turned into a douchebag..he's been nothing but annoying this entire olympics...

Besides Brodeur..

luongo was good when he played as well
I blame George W. Bush.
He's probably responsible somehow, you know, on principle, and someone has to blame him.
That and, our team sucked.

The people I feel the worst for are Brodeur, Luongo and Joe Sakic. seriously, how many players in this day and age would suck it up and play with a broken jaw? sure he didn't produce points, but that was not supposed to be his job this tourny. He was there to lead, and going out there, taking hits and playing while injured, is a prime example of his dedication and intensity that somehow got lost within the dressing room, which is such a shame.
Also, I don't think Crosby would have brought squat to the team. Spezza should have been playing, not Richards or St.Louis.
yeah, I'm rather upset.

I disagree. One of Crosby's biggest assets is his speed and it was clear that Canada was lacking speed. Look at the numbers Crosby is producing playing with a bunch of rotting corpses in Pittsburgh!
But WOW, that Ovechkin is unbelievable. That was a different Ovechkin from the one that was crying on the bench during the 05 World Juniors gold medal game.
Crosby is good.....but Ovechkin is scary good.
Ovechkin is scary good because he has insane International experience as well as playing with men in pro leagues longer than Crosby has. Ovechkin has played in World cups, World Championships etc against the pros, where he developed his game...Crosby's first pro international experience would have been a nightmare. more so than it is already.
Gunn Wrote:Crosby's first pro international experience would have been a nightmare.
Really? And what is it about Crosby's game that makes you feel that way? The fact that as an 18 year old he is already the best player on the Penguins?
Something tells me he would have held his own and then some.
I just explained it in comparing his international experience to Ovechkin's.
I find nothing wrong with his play, I think he is disgustingly talented....but his experience is lacking. and I'm sure the exact same statement was passed around the boardroom when the team was being selected.

You've lost me. First you said that Crosby wouldn't have made a difference. I disagreed because I thought his speed would have helped. But you countered that Crosby's first international play with men would have been a nightmare, apparently because Ovechkin has more international experience.

cratch:
I was combining two thoughts there, sorry.
Crosby would not have made a difference due to his lack of international experience at the pro level. done.
Ovechkin is scary good at the world level because he has the track record. done.
