The coach

i agree..we just weren't prepared, or at least didn't seem prepared..but as i mentioned in another thread, we looked so slow out there!! but if anybody can tell me what kind of system we played, i'd like to know
I think he is gonna be leaving his 'other' job quite soon.
I think we just plain stunk. Im not going to pick out single players, we lost as a team, from the top to the bottom we just weren't good enough. Brodeur was great of course that goes without saying, but the team just didn't get it done period. The big question is why?
I think there's going to be a lot of overreaction, as there always is when Canada loses. With 7 teams that could win it all, chances are we were going to have a tough matchup in the quarters, and Russia was the better team today. Still, no heart, no desperation, it reminded me an awful lot of the Senators in playoffs past.

For a team that could get nothing going offensively, it would have been awfully nice to see what Spezza could have done on the big Olympic surface. Now I can move on to wondering what the hell Ottawa is going to do without Hasek.
Marty played great.

I think he is the only one who played that way.
It was nice of Bertuzzi to take one of his patented stupid penalties leading to Ovechkin's PP goal. I thought that was a nice touch.

I think that this team would have been better on the small ice surfaces in North America, but they got exposed as too big and too slow on the wide international ice.

Ah well. It's easy to be a Monday Morning QB, isn't it?
Ron Mclean thinks it was the ice's fault.

As far as the CBC is concerned.

They didn't play like a team.

The ice, bad penalty's, not fast enough, these area all excuses.
They knew the ice would be bigger, they knew they needed to be fast, and 1 bad penalty did not cost them the game. Scoring 0 goals cost them the game.

In order to score goals you need to create momentum.

and yeah..bert was the only one to take a stupid penalty right?? i think it's hilarious that ron mclean is blaming bert, the lockout, and the big ice...well last time i checked, it wasn't just north americans who were locked out...
Canada was scoreless in 10 of the last 11 periods. I think that tells the story right there. That's an unbelievable stat considering all the firepower on this team. Bottom line is that there was absolutely no chemistry on this team whatsoever, and they couldn't get any kind of flow going. I think they need to make some big changes for 2010. Get a new coach in there for one thing, and I think more youth and speed would be a big help. I wonder how things would've turned out if guys like Sid the Kid and Dion Phaneuf had made the team.

As for the players, the only guy that deserves a medal is Marty Brodeur. Nobody else bothered to show up (not to mention the fact that they couldn't stay out of the freakin' box). Pronger sucks, Bertuzzi is a bum, and what the f**k was Bryan McCabe doing on this team??
McCabe did have moments of playing quite well.....both offensively and defensively
i blame the media
was there no 'lucky loonie" this year? if not..i blame that
