Echo Incubus.

There's something about
The look in your eyes
Something I noticed when
The light was just right
It reminded me twice
That I was alive
And it reminded me that
You're so worth the fight
My biggest fear will be
The rescue of me
Strange how it turns out
That way, yeah
Could you show me dear?

Something I'm not seeing
Something infinitely interesting
Could you show me dear?
Something I'm not seeing
Something infinitely interesting

Theres something about
The way you move
I see your mouth in slow motion
When you sing
More subtle than something
Someone contrives
Your movements echo that
I have seen the real thing

Your biggest fear will be
The rescue of you
Strange how it turns out
That way, yeah
Could you show me dear?
Something I'm not seeing
Something infinitely interesting
Could you show me dear?
Something I'm not seeing
Something infinitely interesting

I love his voice in this song!
Glycerine - Bush

Must be your skin I'm sinking in
must be for real cuz now I can feel
and I didn't mind
it's not my kind
not my time to wonder why
everything's gone white
and everything's gray
now you're here now you're away
I don't want this
remember that
I'll never forget where you're at
don't let the days go by

glycerine

I'm never alone
I'm alone all the time
are you at one
or do you lie
we live in a wheel
where everyone steals
but when we rise it's like strawberry fields

if I treated you bad
you bruise my face
couldn't love you more
you got a beautiful taste
don't let the days go by
could have been easier on you
I couldn't change though I wanted to
could have been easier by three
our old friend fear and you and me
glycerine [repeat]
don't let the days go by
glycerine

I needed you more
when we wanted us less
I could not kiss just regress
it might just be
clear simple and plain
that's just fine
that's just one of my names
don't let the days go by
could've been easier on you
glycerine
Ballad of Accounting, as sung by Karan Casey..simply awesome..

( Ewan MacColl )

In the morning we built the city
In the afternoon walked through its streets
Evening saw us leaving
We wandered through our days as if they would never end
All of us imagined we had endless time to spend
We hardly saw the crossroads and small attention gave
To landmarks on the journey from the cradle to the grave,
cradle to the grave, cradle to the grave

Did you learn to dream in the morning?
Abandon dreams in the afternoon?
Wait without hope in the evening?
Did you stand there in the traces and let them feed you lies?
Did you trail along behind them wearing blinkers on your eyes?
Did you kiss the foot that kicked you? Did you thank them for their scorn?
Did you ask for their forgiveness for the act of being born,
act of being born, act of being born?

Did you alter the face of the city?
Did you make any change in the world you found?
Or did you observe all the warnings?
Did you read the trespass notices, did you keep off the grass?
Did you shuffle off the pavement just to let your betters pass?
Did you learn to keep your mouth shut, were you seen and never heard?
Did you learn to be obedient and jump to at a word,
jump to at a word, jump to at a word?

Did you ever demand any answers?
The who and the what and the reason why?
Did you ever question the setup?
Did you stand aside and let them choose while you took second best?
Did you let them skim the cream off and then give to you the rest?
Did you settle for the shoddy? Did you think it right
To let them rob you right and left and never make a fight,
never make a fight, never make a fight?

What did you learn in the morning?
How much did you know in the afternoon?
Were you content in the evening?
Did they teach you how to question when you were at the school?
Did the factory help you grow, were you the maker or the tool?
Did the place where you were living enrich your life and then
Did you reach some understanding of all your fellow men,
all your fellow men, all your fellow men?
REM - Bad Day

A Public service announcement followed me home the other day
I paid it nevermind. Go away.
Shits so thick you could stir it with a stick- free Teflon whitewashed presidency
We're sick of being jerked around
Wear that on your sleeve

Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord,
Count your blessings.
We're sick of being jerked around
We all fall down.

Have you ever seen the televised St. vitus subcommittee prize
Investigation dance? Those-ants-in- pants glances.
Well, look behind the eyes
It's a hallowed, hollow anesthesized
"save my own ass, screw these guys"
smoke and mirror lock down

Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord,
Count your blessings.
the papers wouldn't lie!
I sigh. Not one more

Its been a bad day.
Please don't take a picture
Its been a bad day.
Please

We're dug in the deep the price is steep.
The auctioneer is such a creep.
The lights went out, the oil ran dry
We blamed it on the other guy
Sure, all men are created equal.
Heres the church, heres the steeple
Please stay tuned--we cut to sequel
ashes, ashes, we all fall down.

Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord, Count your blessings.
Embrace the lowest fear/Ignore the lower fears
Ugh, this means war.

Its been a bad day.

Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord,
Count your blessings.
We're sick of being jerked around
We all fall down.

Its been a bad day...
Your Ghost - Kristin Hersch and Michael Stipe
If I walk down this hallway
Tonight it's too quiet
So I head through the dark
And call you on the phone
Push your old numbers
And let your house ring
Till I wake a ghost

Let him walk down your hallway
It's not this quiet
Slide down your receiver
Sprint across the wire
Follow my number
Slide into my hand

It's the blaze across my nightgown
It's the phone's ring

I think last night
You were driving circles around me
I think last night
You were driving circles around me
I think last night
You were driving circles around me

I can't drink this coffee
Till I put you in my closet
Let him shoot me down
Let him call me off
I take it from his whisper
You're not that tough

It's the blaze across my nightgown
It's the phone's ring

I think last night (You were here last night)
You were driving circles around me
I think last night (You were here last night)
You were driving circles around me
I think last night (You were here last night)
You were driving circles around me
I think last night (You were here last night)
You were driving circles around me
Behind Blue Eyes - The Who (and remake by Limp Bizkit)

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
War on Drugs - Barenaked Ladies

She likes to sleep with the radio on
So she can dream of her favorite song
The one that no one has ever sung since she was small

She'll never know that she made it up
She had a soul and we ate it up
Thrown away like a paper cup
The music falls

The only flaw in her detailed plan
Is where she wins back the love of her man
Everyone knows that he's never coming back

He took her heart and she took his name
He couldn't stand taking all the blame
He left her only with guilt and shame and then she cracked

Won't it be dull when we rid ourselves
Of all these demons haunting us
To keep us company

In the dream I refuse to have
She falls asleep in a lukewarm bath
We're left to deal with the aftermath again

On behalf of humanity
I will fight for your sanity
How profound such profanity can be

Won't it be dull when we rid ourselves
Of all these demons haunting us
To keep us company

Won't it be odd to be happy like we
Always thought we're supposed to feel
But never seem to be

Near where I live there's a viaduct
Where people jump when they're out of luck
Raining down on the cars and trucks below

They've put a net there to catch their fall
Like it'll stop anyone at all
What they don't know is when nature calls, you go

They say that Jesus and mental health
Are just for those who can help themselves
But what good is that when you live in hell on earth?

From the very fear that makes you want to die
Is just the same as what keeps you alive
It's way more trouble than some suicide is worth

Won't it be dull when we rid ourselves
Of all these demons haunting us
To keep us company

Won't it be odd to be happy like we
Always thought we're supposed to feel
But never seem to be

Hard to admit I fought the war on drugs
My hands were tied and the phone was bugged
Another died and the world just shrugged it off
Beat - I'm really impressed you know such an obscure song! "Your Ghost" is one of my favourites, it made me run out and buy a Kristen Hersh album that didn't even have that song on it to see what the rest of her stuff was like! Good song :thumb:

Kate Fenner
Linden Trees

Left out by the gods,
when I paid such close attention.
Enlightenment-who needs it?
Just the sunlight on this bench and
The wind in these linden trees.

It was an old morning of the world -
I can't figure what you meant then.
These days are fit and high and wild,
And I can't figure how I've spent them;
Pawning off these coins of misery.

Learn young to play the crowd,
It takes on a moral duty.
Drunk and fast and loud,
Take anything you want from me.
But not my sadness and not my secrecy.

Cross-legged and quiet in the hush of the red robes.
Fitful but compliant, the cool curve of my begging bowl.
"I came all this way," I said, "tell me that you'll have me."
"No, you've been here all along, it's just that it's so hard to be here."

It's been warm in the borough, but
Now a cold's set on the keys.
If you know now, will you tell me so-
Of colder days than these,
Listening to the wind in the linden trees.
Rich Man's Spiritual, ©1966 by Gordon Lightfoot

Gonna buy me a long white robe
Yes 'n Lord to help me home
I'm gonna buy me a long white robe
Yes 'n Lord to get me home
And when I get my heavenly gown
And I lay my burden down
I'm gonna get me a long white robe to get me home

I'm gonna buy me two golden slippers
Yes 'n Lord to walk me home
I'm gonna buy me two golden slippers
Yes 'n Lord to walk me home
And when I get my slippers of gold
Then the Lord will have my soul
I'm gonna get me two golden slippers to get me home

I'm gonna buy me two wings of silver
Yes 'n Lord to fly me home
I'm gonna buy me two wings of silver
Yes 'n Lord to fly me home
And when I get my silvery wings
Then an angel choir will sing
I'm gonna get me two wings of silver to get me home

I'm gonna buy me a poor man's trouble
Yes 'n Lord to help me home
I'm gonna buy me a poor man's trouble
Yes 'n Lord to help me home
And when I get my trouble and woe
Then homeward I will go
I'm gonna get a little trouble and woe to get me home

I'm gonna find me a smiling angel
Yes 'n Lord to lead me home
I'm gonna get me a smiling angel
Yes 'n Lord to lead me home
And when he takes me by the hand
I know the Lord will understand
I'm gonna get me a smiling angel to lead me home
I'm gonna get me a smiling angel to lead me home

I love that song as well. It got quite a bit of airplay here some time ago, heard it again yesterday and just had to post the lyrics Smile
Gordon Lightfoot.... you just gave me a reason to listen to one of my older records. CD's are so easy. So easy one forgets the LP's.
This afternoon I'm gonna play records. Starting with Gordon Lightfoot.. For old time's sake... Smile
Three Days Janes Addiction

Three days was the morning. My focus three days old. My head, it
landed to the sounds of cricket bows... I am proud man anyway... Covered now
by three days...
Three ways was the morning. Three lovers, in three ways. We knew when
she landed, three days she'd stay. I am a proud man anyway... Covered now by
three days...
We saw shadows of the morning light the shadows of the evening sun till
the shadows and the light were one. Shadows of the morning light the shadows
of the evening sun till the shadows and the light were one...
True hunting is over. No herds to follow. Without game, men prey on
each other. The family weakens by the bite we swallow...
True leaders gone, of land and people. We choose no kin but adopted
strangers. The family weakens by the length we travel... All of us with
wings... All of us with wings... All of us with wings! All of us with wings!
All of us with wings! All of us with wings!
Erotic Jesus lays with his Marys. Loves his Marys. Bits of puzzle,
hitting each other. All now with wings! "Oh my Marys! Never wonder... Night
is shelter for nudity's shiver..." All now with wings..

Not enough people here have record players. I have one I am very proud of (1966 Montagu) as well as a couple hundred records. Including 8 Lightfoot records  Storm, did I miss something - are you an expat Canadian or something?? I've never known anyone overseas who had Lightfoot on vinyl!!

I loves me some vinyl records. Most of my Dylan & Neil Young simply does not sound the same on CD and my Allman Bros & Muddy Waters & JJ Cale is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to find on CD. I have some records that were never re-released on CD and it drives me nuts. One day if I have money I'll buy the stuff you need to hook your record player up to your computer and rip the records.
No expat Canadian, but a real Dutchy.
Gordon Lightfoot was, about 25 years ago, rather popular overhere.
We've got just one Lightfoot LP, called Sundown, one Dylan (Desire) and one Neil Young LP (with The Emperor of Wyoming)
It's true, they sound different on the recordplayer. Some of them are old and turned grey. And all of the records have their own story.

Like you, I'm gonna try to copy the most beautiful songs to my computer. As a matter of fact I'm gonna try this weekend. And I hope it will work. Wink
How could I ever forget about Dylan?? My god... it was great... Hurricane, all the other songs, so beautiful...
