Holland's greatest Dutchie apparently is Pim Fortuyn - the politician that was assassinated in 2002 - right cause he had way more of an impact than Vincent van Gogh, Rembrandt and all the other zillion people they could have picked.. :?

I think what all of these contests prove (Especially given the "Anybody but Di" campaign that happened in England) is that a popularity contest can't be misunderstood for a reasoned decision.
Even here, Tommy Douglas' numbers (And no doubt, he is a deserving candidate) are being inflated because Douglas' "advocate" happens to have a daily radio show in the nation's largest city where he plugs for votes every chance he gets.
These things are fun, they educate, they do what public broadcasters should do: tell "our" stories to us. But in the end, it's really just picking a Prom Queen.
...And yes, given the chance, I would go to Prom with T.C. Douglas.

Suzuki airs tomorow, Trudeau on Monday... then I assume there will be some type of Philapino Slap Fight Grand-Finale next week to capitilize on Nov. Sweeps.

75% for me as well. Very interesting.
Updated Standings as of November 15th:
1. Tommy Douglas
2. Terry Fox
3. Dr. Frederick Banting
4. Pierre Elliott Trudeau
5. Don Cherry
6. Lester B. Pearson
7. David Suzuki
8. Sir John A. Macdonald
9. Wayne Gretzky
10. Alexander Graham Bell
An interesting note is that folks under 50 have predominantly voted for Terry Fox, while the majority of folks 50 or older vote for Tommy Douglas.
Why is Banting higher than Pearson, Bell AND Trudeau? The first was a brilliant statesman, the second contributed immensely to not just Canada's but the WORLD's future, and Trudeau was the most Canadian Canadian there's every been. Banting? A one-hit wonder...just kidding.
WITHOUT any doubt, the greatest Canadian is TRUDEAU.
Without him Canada would not be the Canada that it is today.

I will argue that there is no question that it should be Terry Fox. I don't even think it is necessary to list any reasons why.
Terry Fox did a great thing, no doubt, positively inspiring...a real symbol of human endurance and conviction.
But I would argue lots of people are noble in spirit...it doesn't make him the Greatest Canadian ever. I think your average firefighter, EMT fire responder, or any of the people who enlisted only to die in the trenches in WWI is equal to Fox. The fact that we've singled him out doesn't really mean much for the country. As I said, though, I want to make it very clear I do not want to in any way diminish his feat.
Like I said, Trudeau was the most Canadian Canadian there's ever been. You don't "single him out", he stands out like a redwood on the Arctic tundra.

You're very right about Terry Fox exemplifying human spirit, but I am also looking at the legacy Terry Fox has left and how many people world wide that have been affected because of him.
To me, Trudeau is just a politician, I won't argue his merit as such, but that's where it ends for me. Simply my opinion of course.

You could say that about the majority of the 10 finalists...
