Agreed. I was thinking this morning the album title is a perfect description of Gordie.
Shocked and saddened to hear the news. God bless to Tragically Hip family and friends and music lovers!

Did you know you were the rock plug for all of us
Did you know in the conduit of Vesuvius
You were far more unifying than you know
I'm not a judge of suitable
But you almost had it all
Now you'll have to tell me when
Tell me when it's imminent
So you won't have to rise and fall alone
Or endure the wonder of survival
The wipe out loss
The elation of free fall
The rock bottom
The sweet betrayal
Alone
Alone
Alone
Alone
Alone
mrlayance Wrote:no words... but part of me does not want to see Gord tour. He could be gone tomorrow, spend every moment you can with your family. I have my memories, that is all I need.

I thought this, too. Perhaps he is doing okay right now and has a decent amount of time left and is comfortable doing one more tour. Tough to say.
David Bowie, I would call myself a casual fan and sad to hear when he passed.

Prince, I was a big fan years back, kind of lost interest in some of his newer stuff, but was shocked and saddened when he passed.

This one......this one hurts a lot. The Hip were a part of my life, every single song, every single new CD release, I can tell you exactly where I was and how each album seemed to resonate with where I was in my life.

Its hard to process knowing this is coming to such a sad ending. I just hope Gord knows what he has brought to so many of us. There is no way I can thank him enough or if he coudl even begin to realize what he's meant to me in life.
Wow...just utter shocking news. I can't even begin to think what it will be like to not have the Hip around in my life, looking forward to new albums and tours. Here's hoping this tour will be one to remember! What an amazing band, but I guess like all good things, it has to come to an end...
Although I haven't signed in for years, Gord, and The Hip, has never stopped being a part of my life. It's been a bittersweet morning sorting through memories with friends that span decades, from a young 16 year old seeing them for the first time for her birthday, through to adulthood and motherhood. I feel like I'm losing a piece of myself! I will definitely go one last time to see him doing what he loves. Hopefully by then I'll be able to listen without getting quite so emotional. Wink
SRK Wrote:Being a "good Kingston boy" (©D. Cherry) and going to KCVI about 10 years after the boys, I always considered them "my" band, or my "family band", in Gord's terms. I might have had bands that were more my favourite, or I considered objectively better, but...the Hip were my band. I could love what they were doing, or flat-out hate what they were doing (looking at you, Now for plan A), but I'd always come back whenever I heard Gord yelling "bring out yer dead" or "uhmm...yoo hoo!" in the middle of a show, or when some random song I hadn't heard in ages popped up in itunes.

Waking up this morning and reading this...nothing could have prepared me. It really is like a family member sitting you down and telling you their bad news. Crushed. But, like one of my friends texted this morning: if nothing else, at least Gord will get to see just how loved and appreciated in this country. It's not much, but it's something.

I lived around the corner from KCVI for five years. I made Kingston my full-time home for 3+ years and it still feels like home whenever I'm back. Basically, you've just said everything I've been feeling this morning.
Woke up to the news at 645am. Been reading past show reviews from some shows I went to and remembering the memories. This tour will likely be their last and I plan to see as many shows as possible. Hope to see some old friends on tour

Thoughts and prayers with gord and the whole hip family.

This band has meant so much to me over the past 25 years.
I AM WORKING BUT DID THEY SAY THE TOUR WILL BE ANNOUNCED TOMORROW AND ITS CANADA ONLY?
Tour announced tomorrow morning, "selected markets" in Canada.
THANKS. BAG IS PACKED

that made me break. I think I needed that cry though.
I'm speechless. It's like an immediate family member or best friend getting diagnosed. Wow, just fuck cancer. The fact that Gordie is doing one last tour with the boys just goes to show how dedicated and special of an artist he is. This can't be happening though. Fuck.
