I think we all feel the same way. We wouldn't be hanging around on this board for all these years if we didn't.
Let's make this summer's tour the best tour yet!
This is a hard one to process. Its like a family member. So many thoughts and memories going through my mind. My heart goes out to Gord's family, and the whole Hip camp.
Gut wrenching to read that email from the boys this morning.
I think it's important that we make this summer tour the best yet, for everyone's sake.
This is really sad.
Doubt I will make it out to any of the tour dates. It'll be too sad. I think that I will choose to remember them in better times. Maybe my mind will change as the dates get closer but we'll see.
Kind of an ironic twist/art imitating life moment when you think about his role in One Week.
This sucks.
fuck. Never really been bothered by a death of a celebrity, a man I have never had the pleasure of shaking hands and sharing a beer with but this HURTS. Really hurts. Funny how feelings work. When they work. FIGHT THE FIGHT BROTHER. WE GOT YOUR BACK
Alright guys, we got this. I'll see you out on the road. Hope it works out for everyone here that we get to say goodbye. Love you all.
Processing.......wow. not expected.
Haven't logged in here in years. Needed some place to come.
As an awkward highschool kid in the 90s, Gord taught me that it was ok to be weird, creative, to dance and rant..... I'm totally broken with the news this morning. Hope everyone is well, and finding some silver lining in Gord and the band's commitment to hit the road to celebrate this music that means so much to us.
Bummer. See you all out there this summer.
So weird this morning all these texts and messages from friends and family talking to me about the news. On one hand, it feels weird, I only met Gord a handful of times, always very briefly, and really this is about him and those close to him, I'm just a fan. So goes my initial thought.
On the other hand, it makes me realize even further how much The Hip's music has touched my life, how much these past decades of it having a fairly significant presence in my life has done some bit to shape who I am. And in a way, that kind of blows me away.
So now, I celebrate what The Hip have brought to my life, the amazing memories I've had that involve them and their music. I feel so very fortunate that we have what looks like a last chance to see them in concert and say goodbye. And I wish nothing but the best to Gord, his family, his friends, and his bandmates in what is obviously an incredibly trying time.
Thank you for everything, Gord. Thank you.
Wow, that is terrible news. I cant even imagine what hes going through. Gord is so talented, creative and has been an inspiration to all of us. Very sad to hear.
Just read the news. Speechless right now.
Early-morning phone calls and now, early-morning emails. The worst. Peace to Gord, his family, the rest of the band and to everyone here who had to wake up to this news.
Heartbreaking news. Now is the time for his fans and family to payback the love he has shared with us. Nothing will keep me from these final shows.
