The downloading is not a problem in Canada, check the copyright laws, unless Ive been mis-informed or read wrong, it is not illegal for me to buy an album in a store make copies and share it with others, be it a p2p network or ripped blank cd's..as long as its not for profit. I cant make copies and sell them, thats illegal.
Thats the gist of it anyways.

it sounds pretty good... and come on... i dont think there is anything unethical about it... i wonder sometimes if the record labels do this just to create hype around the cd.... wasnt WC "leaked" as well????
Ive bought tickets to the theatre show which includes copies of the cd... and I have tickets to 2 upcomming summer shows... and i downloaded it onto my mp3 player, and thats where the cd copies would have gone anyway.
To each thier own though.... you guys are all missing out... its a great sounding cd...

I download music or movies, and it's stealing, but companies overcharge us in every way possible, for everything that they possibly can, and that's ok though ,it's just business, the way of the world, ect...definately not stealing...that's ok, i don't believe in the ten commandments or any of that jazz anyway...just chaos, that's all that there is, and all that there ever will be, just chaos...mankind thinks that he can defeat the chaos with all of his rules and institutions, but really, he is only defeating himself, and turning a blind eye to not only his inevitable extinction, but to his own humble savage beginnings and nature.

Look, it's very noble, and I seriously am proud of anyone who's waiting until April 7th. I just had no willpower when faced with the chance to listen to my favorite band's new album right now.

How do you figure? Two weeks is barely a leak, considering copies of the record are usually sent to radio stations, media outlets, etc. for review a few weeks before the release date. How else would you drum up excitement? These days, 2 weeks isn't so bad at all. Leaks are inevitable.

Yea, i followed suit and had to download it for myself. I personally don't see a problem, ethical or otherwise, of downloading it. As mentioned by some previously, I already pre-ordered the CD, tickets to Massey Hall, and some merchandise. I don't see the point of delaying pleasure, when that pleasure is at your finger tips right now. The Hip are by far my favourite band, and I couldn't wait 2 more weeks. Live for the now, use it up now, and listen!
