Anyone going to this? Headstones, Trews, Pursuit of Happiness, Kasador, and Tom Cochrane are performing. I noticed the concert is being co-chaired by Paul's wife, Joanne Langlois. Paul's gotten up on stage before with Tom Cochrane (for Big League) and has a close connection with Hugh Dillon, having produced some of his solo work, so I'd bet on him being there. Would love to see him do 38 Years Old for the occasion.

Last Tour/New Thought

I'm sure others have thought about this years ago but this only came to me recently. Despite the miraculous nature of the final tour, it's actually kind of sad that the old rambling Gord was pretty much not there. The Hip were obviously famous for developing new songs out of their riffing and Gord's rants and poems and asides. And I don't think that happened on this tour, right? The miracle was that they nailed the songs as well as they did. They didn't really stray far from them. At least from what I saw in Toronto or on TV in Kingston. Now Gord had to focus on the songs. I totally get that. I still can't believe he and the band pulled it off so splendidly. But beyond the lack of Gord's between-song banter, that also signified that there weren't any new songs in development. At least nothing they were obviously trying to work out on stage. We know they were working on Hip songs together after the final tour. But we have no evidence that they were working on these ideas on the MMP tour. So the tour is an anomaly in that way. The one time they weren't playing live with an eye toward what's next. Sad in itself. But again, thank God we had that last tour. Imagine if Gord announced his illness and the band was just done. That would be worlds worse. They landed the balloon. Cheers to that.

Chancellor Meaning

Just sitting around butchering Chancellor on the guitar and wondering if anyone has any insight into the lyrics? I've read someone mention Hitler/Ava Braun but that feels a bit on the nose for Gord...though I know he used to rant about both frequently on tour. Someone else on another site suggested the vampire is Gord's temper.

Hate? Broken Social Scene I just dont get any of it. From Gords/Hip stuff to BSS stuff.

I have found many more bands that I like through The Hip.
But these two blow my mind for different reasons.

Just stumbled across this. If you look up Gord Downie on Spotify, it seems his personal playlists are posted there. None appear to be shared for listening but you can see all the titles. In case this disappears, I took the following screenshots. There are some interesting items, including love for Paul Langlois and Matthew Good (?!), as well as apparent alternate mixes of some Hip and GD solo.

Hipbase Help

Alright, so since Lance is no longer around here, and I'm just mod...

Who is supposed to help with some pretty significant technical glitches? I don't even know. I wish I had a better answer for the Base. cliff_hangar has been our latest registered user for months, Hipbase vet 'mark' can't get passed a captcha, and Hipbase hasn't been able to login on mobile for months.

I have no idea where to even begin, but I can certainly bet the mod controls on this site won't do jack to help these issues. I'm sorry I can't help further.

Captcha on login page not working

I had a problem with my password and ended up entering it incorrectly too many times. it now wants me to enter a captcha phrase along with my password but the captcha is not working properly. it says that captcha v1 is shutdown and it needs to be upgraded.

the only way I was able to post this is because I happen to be logged in using a different browser window but as soon as I close my browser, I won't be able to log back in again until the captcha is fixed.

Second and last show for me on this tour. More credit card entry problems for my friends getting in. This show I was accompanied by my beautiful better half. Once in the building we ran down to the floor and got set up with a little time to spare again.
I was glad I had my Hip app open to the recording allowed notification. Security came about 1/2 way through the show (you'll hear it during Courage), and told me I couldn't record. I told them they were wrong and showed them the the app, they weren't aware until that point, apologised and went on their way.
I wanted to keep the band framed up, but wanted to enjoy the show with my wife as well. I was very happy to have the We Are The Same album represented as I caught all four shows in Edmonton on that theatre tour.
Very happy to have caught both shows in Edmonton with excellent seats yet again. Wished I could have caught the shows in Calgary as well, but with a wife and young family I'll take the memories I've gained.
