Good choices! Again, I play guitar, and would be happy to contribute (although you probably have enough Guitarists). I can play Bass as well.

Plus, I've recently learnt both Fiddlers Green and Family Band.
Ballgame Wrote:I play guitar and took singing lessons...but I SUCK. So I could do some guitar work and BACKING vox Smile

I use Cool Edit pro 2.0 and Firebox for my soundcard

So you/we would play to a click first and then player? Ihave a drum machine for basic basic beat

I'll do Membership to a click if anybody wants to try that

I was just going to play along with the album when I recorded it. I listen to it in head phones and play along. That way you KNOW you have the proper tempo and there isn't an annoying click track in the background.

We don't have a bassist yet. If you want to do that that would be cool! :thumb:

I think that gives us everything we need. I tried recording Fiddler's Green last night, but I seem to have misplaced my acoustic pick up. I recorded it through the computer mic just to lay something down. The quality is garbage, obviously, but it's a start. I'll pick up my pick up ( ) and my electric/amp and record the guitar tracks for those songs in the next day or two.

Have we figured out how we're going to transfer these files to eachother yet?

This should fill the time between today and Feb 2nd :jump :jump :jump
I'll set-up an upload/download page where everyone can login and post their tracks, and download the tracks that others have completed.

I should have that up later today and will post the details here.

I'll see what I can do (not making any promises just yet.) I don't actually own a bass, but my girlfriend does, so I could probably use hers.

If I can get that sorted, then I'll happily contribute what I can.
OK, it's set up at http://hipfans.com/band/

Sounds good, Fiddlers Green is a good choice for sure and I'm sure a few more listens of Family Band will cement it in the noggin... I'll get a mike after payday, a couple fo weeks, and post a demo with my mp3 dictaphone in the meantime.
When you visit the site, create a folder with your name/nickname and put all of your files in it.
I recorded the open E guitar on Fiddler's Green last night. I haven't had a chance to pick up my acoustic pick up yet, so it's recorded through a mic which was built in to my computer monitor from 1997 (so you know the quality is grrrreeaaat!!!!!) I can upload it if anyone wants to hear it, but it's not even close to good enough to use in the final product.

I should get my pick up back tonight and, if everything goes according to plan, record a decent quality version at some point tonight.

Can't wait to hear it!!!

Are you ready to get that kick drum loaded? (someone had to say it)
I forgot to mention - I can do bass as well as guitar. I'm leaving work in a couple hours and have the rest of the afternoon off, so I can start on Family Band.

I'd like to recommend Opiated as a possible future track - it's awesome, has a really easy solo and i've been playing it for two days straight.

EDIT: You know what, hell, I don't think we've had anyone step on on vocals. I'm not all that great, but I can try to lay down some vocals and see what you guys think.

I think MattyM is going to take a shot at the vocals. But, since my singing voice sounds like babies crying, we could use some backing vocals.
If you're hot on a particular song, and have been playing/practicing it, go ahead and upload it. It may spark someone to do more.

or tell us what song you want to sing and one of us can record it

Since so many people play guitar and want to contribute I’m just gonna go ahead and lay down Membership. I started it to a click AND a drum machine (just in case). I only got through the first verse before it was bed time for my son. So I’ll post it once its done and if someone wants to contribute it will be there. I’ll only do the rhythm and whatnot

As for Fiddlers Green I think you guys are on your own because I know nothing about open tuning haha

I "might" be able to do backing vox. It will depend on how it sounds. I tried taking vocal lessons to I could sing to my wife on our wedding day but I ran out of time to actually lock down the song.

I'm in for Membership. I can record the lead in the next couple days. When you say you're playing the rhythm, are you strumming Em D G D during the verse or playing the picking part?
