Whoa. That's the first injury that I think will actually impact Team Canada (Jovo is a hack living on reputation alone).

Likely won't happen, but I hope Phaneuf gets the spot. I can't believe how good he is at his age.
phaneuf should get the spot. period. end of story.

but jovo aint no hack.
I heard they went with Bouwmeester instead. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=154086&hubname=

Bouwmeester's not bad... but he ain't no Phaneuf!

Bouwmeester's not bad... but he ain't no Phaneuf!

All they need is Pronger back there. He's head and shoulders above all other defenseman in the NHL as far as I'm concerned.

As for Phaneuf, he's probably better than Foote, Redden, Regehr, and Mccabe also.

Definitely better than Foote and McCabe. Regehr is a little better defensively, but Phaneuf is way better than him on offense. I do like Redden though. He's solid at both ends.
i think Phaneuf should get rookie of the year...he's making a big impact on a Cup Contending team, while Syd and Al are stealing the show on shitty teams...just my opinion though.

He won't win but he'll get some votes. In almost any other year he would win hands down. He's a #1 defenseman in his first year. I didn't think he would be this good so soon. Still, you can't take away from Ovechin and Crosby just because they got drafted by bottom dwellers. Pittsburgh were a crappy team for years when Mario came and played for them but that didn't change the fact that Mario was an immediate superstar.
looks like a Canadian might have been caught too:

It hasn't been mentioned who yet, but it must be Theodore, no? His season just went from bad to worse.
