I was waiting for that to happen somewhere...I suppose if it was a more popular song in the u.s they would do the same. Just like when that sniper was killing all those people in (I forget which state) the radio's stopped playing "another one bites the dust" by Queen.
So - I am guessing The Hip will not play it in Moncton either.
I don't think they will play it. I'm sure we'll all hear it live again soon, just not until after this situation improves.

I do think they will play New Orleans Is Beat, however...maybe a chance to wish everybody well down there.
that kinda sucks! Gord does such a good job of that song live! lol o well. i wish those ppl all the best in the days to come.

If the situation is as bad for as long as it looks like it will be, I doubt you will ever hear the boys play the song again.
I dont think they should play it in Moncton and I assume they wont, but since they dont have any shows on the horizon for a while its not going to be an issue... but lets say after hipeponymous is released and they decide to do a tour of Canada in support of it, I think they should keep playing it, I dont think they should ever stop playing it, imo. But its their call of course.

I really hope they don't tour in support of a greatest hits CD, that would be a shame.
This was the first thing I thought of when I heard the news that N.O. was flooding. "Oh shit! New Orleans *IS* sinking!" I think the band and radio stations are correct to pull the song from their play/song lists for the timebeing but not for good.

Well that was meant to be hypothetical...but if they did tour, who here would complain? Besides you.

What is the logic here?

Shit, I'd be happy if they toured in support of nothing other than the fans who want to see them.
If the Hip didn't play NOIS again I wouldn't be upset ... In fact, I think it would be the best news to come out of this whole Katrina situation. Don't get me wrong, it's a great tune, but I've heard it at every single show I've seen the Hip play live. Maybe they'll sub in another old classic in its place...

i for one won't miss it. i am just disappointed that it took a terrible event like this to stop them from playing that song.
you guys wouldn't be saying you hope they stop playing NOIS after Katrina if it was your first time going to a Hip show now would you? i don't see the point in stop playing it, ok maybe not at Moncton, but next year? they wrote and played Silver jet after 9/11 no? not a direct link to those events but nonetheless..
Chives, NOIS is over rated live. the jam has been reduced to about a minute and Gord D plays a guitar that you can't hear.

there are so many other songs that could easily replace it.
