Maybe I have missed something, or the fact that I am an insane fan of the Hip that has blinded me, but what is so wrong with us Hip fans that I have been hearing about lately?
What exactly has the critisism been? What have we done to piss people off, and actually have had to have the object of our fan-dom defend us. I'm not seeing it, and am quite puzzled by it.
Is it that we respect quality music, and not the bubble gum flash in the pan crap the record companies are force feeding us, or attempting to.
Is it the fact that we aren't following the Nickleback, Default, Creed same ole crap sound that seems to be the only alternative to the bubble gum crap.
What ever it might be, I give huge Kudos to Gord Downie for standing up for us and appreciate what he did. Gord showed huge class for standing up for us on their grand occasion.

Unfortunately from my concert experiences, yes they are.
But this is specific to Hip fans, or rock fans in general?!?! Because I have been to many rock concerts and rowdy drunkenness is certainly not specific to Hip fans.
And flag waving is something else we really do not want to discourage. Correct?!?!
So what else is there?

Is it accurate... depends on the setting I guess. I mean, who hasn't had a drunk jock sitting next to them yelling "GORDIE!!!" every 5 seconds. :x
But that happens at just about all large venue concerts I've ever been to.

I'm that guy. So what. I'm proud of the hip and of my canuck lineage. You guys have a kick ass nation that produces quality bands, tv shows, literary figures, etc. Let them say that we are all a bunch of drunk canadian flag waving idiots. Fuck them, Creed, Green Day, Dave Matthews, and every other marginally talented band that our culture elevates to stardom.

Again, folks, is this specific to just Hip fans, or fans of different bands and different types of music in general?
And I think Hip fans are quite diverse in their musical tastes and seem to have a good grip on what is good, decent and true music.

Every time somebody asks me who my favourite band is, and I say the Tragically Hip..9 times out of 10 I get "oh......ok". I ask people if they like them.."ah..yeah..sort of..you know, that song about them being in Bbocaygeon" uh huh. So, I don't know what is wrong with us hip fans..we're a rare breed, but I kinda like it that way.

i own both albums, in fact i have the anniversary edition of london calling, complete with DVD...honestly, i think american idiot stands beside it as an equal..if not better....
