What a cruel world. A funny-lookin' guy like that gets to be in a band with a couple of such cute girls...

I just found something very peculiar, anyone else notice some similarity here? hmmm.......Doesnt the oldest hanson brother in the back look a hell of alot like Chad Kroeger a few years younger? Someone's running from their past perhaps? Youre not fooling me Chad HANSON!!! :lol:Busted!

Well I will probably make a few enemies by posting this, but I think The Barenaked Ladies fit into this category.
This is one group I cannot stand and can never figure out how they have made it? Every album I wait to see if they have "grown up" yet, and then I hear the new latest lame single on the radio and the answer is.......................no, everytime. Every song has to be some comical joke or goofy subject that is just so bloody lame. Yes they are a big band, yes they have made it in the States, but this mystery ranks right up the with who shot JFK in my books?
Again, this is just my opinion, I am sure a lot of people on here are fans of them, nothing against the band, if they can make a living doing it go for it, but you will never see a CD of theirs in my collection...................

The Dears
I have to bold it just to reinforce how bad i thought they were went the opened for the Hip at the Ampitheatre a few years ago. All I can say is thank god the watch men saved us from possible the most boring and uninspiring opening set ever.

ya... I think the problem is more the singles that they decide to release more than anything... They're following in the success of 'if i had a million dollars' and 'one week' and for whatever reason it's working. Their most recent one was some song about monkeys or something wasn't it?...
It's the stuff like Jane, the Old Apartment, When I Fall, Brian Wilson... etc. that I really enjoyed, that were thoughtful and not goofy -- most of their albums have a few great songs but they don't get released as singles and only people who bought the cds have the benefit of hearing those gems.

You've made a friend here. Couldn't agree with you more. I'll admit I like Brian Wilson and their version of Lovers In A Dangerous Time, but that's about it. The "hey look, we're a bunch of white suburban jackasses" schtick is funny the first time, moderately amusing the 2nd time, irritating the third time, and downright :rambo: the fourth time. Yet here we are, 13 years after I first heard 'em, and they are still using the same old tired schtick.
Mind you, I don't find themselves NEARLY as irritating as Nickelcrap. I mean at least BNL have a sense of humour. Nickelcrap seem humourless and seem to think of themselves as the saviours of rock n roll.

The fact that BNL sits down to write out their set for the tour at the beginning ruins it for me. i would hate to go to a show knowing what songs they are going to play, and what dumb jokes they are going to tell

What about these guys?

K-Town Lassie Wrote:Oh yes! Shania, who wrote such thought provoking lyrics as...
"Don't be stupid-you know I love you
Don't be ridiculous-you know I need you
Don't be absurd-you know I want you
Don't be impossible ..."
How's this for stupid? People buy her albums. Impossible? Swallowing any of her inane "lyrics".
That is IF she even writes any of her own lyrics. It seems like most modern country artists do not write their own lyrics. I often amuze myself at our store looking at the booklets from the country cds...hardly any country artists (or 'pop' artists for that matter) write their own lyrics/music.
Doesn't surprise me :?
