Ok... not that I'm going to put a poll together or anything... but I've been listening to the London show for the last few weeks, and loving Lake Fever, which in my books, is one of the Hip's most underrated song....
I'm just curious about other peoples thoughts... What Hip song surprises you by not being a big hit? What song doesn't get enought credit?
I'll put my two cents in here
#1. Something On (I think that song had "single" written all over it)
#2. Lake Fever (I agree with ya...cool groove and universally accessable words)
#3. Pigeon Camera (Im in the states so I don't know if it was ever a single in Canada but it sure should have been)
I always thought Don't Wake Daddy would be bigger than it was... I wonder why it never happened? Too much bad karma from being too close to Kurt Cobain's death, maybe????
Might as well blame it on something silly like that, since I don't think any other explanation makes sense.

I was attending college in Belleville when Fully Completely was released. (Partying 101-- Dean's list for that one.... ). Then, as now, I rarely listened to commercial radio. Way too many...uh..commercials. I seem to remember it getting quite a bit of airplay though, so it may have been released as a single here. Wicked song, either way.

Wasn't "Something On" a single? I know it had a video...

Man, oh, man. It seems like this forum is primarily used for favourite, least favourite, overrated, underrated stuff. Not that I'm dissing anybody for starting this thread (or any other thread for that matter). It just always seems someone asks "okay, what do ya think?" and then everybody just says what they think.
It's kinda weird because this is what I do at 2:30 in the morning when I finally get home. Killing Time. The song. Not that this forum basically kills all my time. That song is like solid friggin gold and non-Hip fans have probably never heard it. I think that song is ten-times better than Highway Girl which seems to be, in the populace's opinion, THE song of the ep.

I'm with you 100% on the Killing Time evaluation. Killing Time is the only song on the EP that feels like a Hip Song. If you snarl Gord's voice a bit more (but not that much more), he could be singing that song twenty years later and it would not be out of place (versus, say, Werewolf, which could now only be sung ironically and with a big wide grin). Small Town Bringdown and Last American Exit are too earnest; Cemetery Sideroad, Evelyn, Werewolf, and All Canadian are too stupid (sorry); Highway Girl would be number two off the album, but it's just so identified with ancient hip that you could never go back to it.
Killing Time rules. What you call compromise, I don't understand,

As much as I love Lake Fever, I think Brazle's right and if this were a contest, I think I'd declare a winner.
I first put the EP on the turntable because I thought the band's name was cool. The first track I played was Killing Time; again, I dug the name and programming a midnight to six college radio program was very much spent killing time. I was blown away, became an instant fan, and the rest is Hipstory.
Killing Time rocks hard and leaves a wet spot. If any tune should be dusted off and resurrected, it's this one!
