I think I'm one of the few that loved M@W infinitely more than IVL. Hell, I probably like M@W more than IBE (well, it's close anyway).
I find that with the typical Hip album I love 80%, like 10%, and could live without 10%.
With IVL it was love 50%, like 30%, and I could live without 20%. And in my mind (and on all of my iTunes playlists), Are You Ready never, ever, ever, ever happened. Never.
You're not alone though. In my opinion, M@W is vastly superior to IVL.

Likewise.
IVL is way overproduced and, I think, somewhat contrived. Good Life is a blatant attempt to get us holding up our lighters, and Dire Wolf and Dark Canuck seem to be attempts to sound like the Hip rather than genuine Hip songs. The album has some decent songs (and some even better songs were cut from it) but overal it leaves me cold.
M@W has its ups and downs, but its stars shine so much more brightly.

Wow! I've always been afraid to defend M@W because of the board's relative disdain for it. But I have brothers in arms afterall!

All though most of them are good, I have to say "It's A Good Life" is my most fav..... I KNOW! I KNOW!....but thats my opinion!!!!

Absolutely. The production on IVL is disgraceful. Hugh Padgham was a terrible pick for producer. The compression on Throwing Off Glass and Leave ruins the songs (the cymbol woooooshing), there's abolutely no kick into the chorus of the Dire Wolf, and the production on the Dark Canuck is completely flat. And those are some of the decent songs on the disc! Then you have the throw away songs: Are You Ready?, Use It Up, and Silver Jet. It just goes to show how important Vreeken is to their sound.
Bad production ruins good songs, and this is why IVL is my least favourite Hip album. I just wish more people felt this way

the more i think about it, IVL is one of my fav hip albums, right up there with FC, DFN, and PP (it's still too early to put IBE in that category, it'll depend on their next album).

I also think M@W was far superior to IVL. I think IVL is likely their weakest album.
It does have some great tracks, and I do play it start to finish frequently, but it's not as strong through and through as most of their albums. I just find it very slow, and a lot of their songs are concert killers. Sorry.
That being said, SIlver Jet is one that I can see lasting a while. Maybe The Darkest One.

From the first time I heard Silver Jet, it was my favorite. I think there are equally as good songs on the album, but if I had to choose one, it's got to be Silver Jet.

i don't see how anyone can take M@W over IVL...
M@W just doesn't have a good flow to it at all, for the life of me i can never listen to it from start to finish, it's just too all over the place, not to mention toronto #4, stay, and wild mountain are boooooooooooring. I think they just tried to go in too many different directions with that album and the result was that it ended up sounding really thrown together...
in the interest of fairness though i'm gonna do the track by track comparison and see what i come up with...
2 points for each win, 1 for each draw
stay, toronto #4, and wild mountain honey ride the pines.
Are You Ready vs. My Music @ Work - MM@W
Use It Up vs. Tiger The Lion - Tiger The Lion
The Darkest One vs. Lake Fever - The Darkest One
IAGLIYDW vs. Putting Down - draw
Silver Jet vs. The Bastard - Silver Jet
Throwing Off Glass vs. The Completists - draw
All Tore Up vs. Freak Turbulence - draw

A Beautiful Thing vs. Train Overnight - draw
The Dire Wolf vs. The Bear - The Dire Wolf

Do you really think that kind of cheesy track-by-track comparison is a valid approach to criticism?

Leave, hands down....
and I love all the albums equally.
