don't get me wrong..both blind melon albums are great...also overlooked in the 90's is any cd by morphine....nobody sounds like morphine...great band, and a tragic loss to the music world when mark sandman died..

An arguement could be made about the first White Stripes album. It's well reveered now, but no one gave a shit until White Blood Cells
No Code is Pearl Jam's best record. Too bad Ten gave us the most radio friendly singles (not a knock at Ten -- just that No Code should get more respect, and in actuallity I think hindsight has helped a lot of people appriciate this record).

My favourite by far is Gas Hed Goes West, one of the best closers to a rock album I've ever heard. I love everything about it...so mysterious! Also love Rattlesnake, America, and the video for Turn My Head (the one based on the paintings, not the performance one...I heard they had licensing problems for the paintings video, and could only use it for a certain period...but it's one of the most compelling videos ever.
Does anybody happen to know where I could get a copy? Every time TMH comes on Much, it's always the performance version.

would have to say VS, just for sheer power, although Yield is amazing...i respect No Code for what they're trying to do, and they have some cool tunes on it, but compared to other PJ discs, it's inferior

Every rock fan should listen to this album at least three times, and if you don't like it, then so be it, but I am SURE some of you all will really dig this disc. There are some cuts on here that just kick my ass all over the place.
Oh, by the way....Ginger Baker (Cream) plays on and helped produce this album, and the main dude, Chris Goss (lead vocals, guitars) is a freaking virtuoso.

that is an amazing album...just found one in my collection..Archangels...featuring stevie ray vaughn's rhythm section...great "rock n roll" disc..closing with the epic "Too many ways to fall"..brilliant
Here's a vote for the previously mentioned White Stripes self titled disk. I can' stop listening to it. Screwdriver, I Fought Pirahnas, Broken Bridge, Astro. I could go on and on. An amazing rock album.

Personally, while I think Sloan are decent , I think Twice Removed is immensely overrated by critics. Hey, just because it didn't sell a trillion copies doesn't mean that it's some brilliant record. If it sold, would it still get all the critical praise it does? I don't know if it's overlooked because every time I hear someone talk about Sloan they talk about that record. I think it won Best Canadian Rock Album on a poll in Chart magazine or something too. It certainly doesn't get my vote, although I will agree that it is pretty good- just not a masterpiece.
Performance and Cocktails sold well didn't it? I don't know if I'd consider it overlooked. I may be wrong though.
As for overlooked, how about "Mirror Ball" by Neil Young?
