I'm really looking forward to this disc...the three preview tracks on the website are great.

As for Danny's vocals, his accapella tunes during Watchmen shows were always a highlight...he's definitely up there when it comes to top voices north of the 49th...

With the numerous Doctor connections to the Hip (ex-By Divine Right and Change of Heart bassist/guitarist Rob Higgins is the other half of Doctor), it wouldn't surprise me if they were on the bill in Kingston...

So is anyone else from Hipbase going to this show?
i'm gonna try to go
(get friends, ride etc)
so now that the day is here, i am going, anyone else making the trek?
I am. Along with a buddy. This morning on 102.1 they said that the event was moved into the clubhouse, so it will be a much more intimate affair.

I'm going to bring my video camera and see what happens.

farmerdan69, be sure to track me down. I'll be wearing jeans and a red t-shirt. I look like my avatar! :thumb:
i'll do my best, i'll probably end up wearing my hip jersey (new black one)
wow, that was one crazy night,

that was the kind of night stories are made of eh chris???

no more than 10 minutes after we were cutting up not by choice, you see one of their member and he GIVES YOU 2 VIP PASSES. lucky guys

it was also awesome that you were able to give gord s. a copy of your wasaga dvd, i hope that all the boys watch it and recognize the time and effort you put into it. way to go!!

ps: thank you chris and your buddy(sorry i cant remember his name )both very much for the free beers and the chance to go into the vip area. i hope you have another story or two from after the concert!!!

Dan
The show was a lot of fun. Met farmerdan69, got VIP passes from the guys in Not By Choice, met Gord Sinclair (awesome), Danny Greaves (dickhead) and Jeremy Taggert (awesome & hilarious) from OLP.

Lowest of the Low were great!

"Supergroup" (as they called themselves) were entertaining.

Sloan were good, as usual, but they were really lacking the energy they've had at previous shows.

I brought my video camera and recorded all except the first song by "Supergroup" and the complete Sloan set.

-----------------

I gave Gord a copy of the Wasaga DVD, and he seemed genuinely appreciative.
Is that you with Gord Chris? How was Danny G being a dickhead? Musta been a cool night of music, especially Sloans set!
Man...that sounds like it would have been awesome! I gotta say if anyone should have gone, it was you, Chris, seeing as you put so much time and effort into taping. Look forward to seeing the results! A night never to forget, hopefully the rest of us will benefit from your recordings!
Summit, that's me with Gord.

I wanted to ask him about the new band, and he was "too busy" although all he was doing was standing next to us, talking to his buddy.

Gord Sinclair, on the other hand, was awesome. He stopped, told the girl he was with that he'd catch up to her when he finished talking to us. As well, he was very appreciative of the DVD I gave him, and said he was looking forward to watching it with the guys. He also confirmed that taping will be OK on the US tour - it is a band policy, and they make sure that all venues are aware of it.

Furthermore, I mentioned Hipbase, and before I finished speaking, he interupted me, and said, "I love that site. I check it out all the time!"

Save these links to your computer for a clip of the "Supergroup" doing Radiohead's 'High and Dry'.

Lower Bandwidth (3.9Mb)

More info on Sloan's set will follow...
Holy shit, you think that's true? You think he might actually read the forum??

Maybe he'll see my radio shows thread and give them up once and for all
Ya Gord is a pretty great guy :thumb: Sooooooodown to earth that fella! And I really don't doubt the guys lookin in on Hipbase from time to time, the HDRC does and they were shoulder to shoulder with Paul and more than likely the rest of the Hip when they were at Bath....anyone remember when Gord S's son came on here that time? this was awhile back, I tried rummaging around for it but couldn't find it. So ya they've known about this place since time immemmorail
thanks for the clip chris,
it brings back memories.....
