Care to share? I've never heard of these before. Can you find them in the hipbase archive?

Thanks for sharing. Can you please re-post the World Container demo. You've got In View there twice.

Oops. Sorry. I replaced the link above.
And as an apology gift here is another tune:

And since this is a World Container thread - another WC tune: Downie - Solo - Acoustic - Pretend
(turn up the volume - this one is very quiet)

What sorcery do I need to use to be able to download these wonderful links. I can get them to play, but I can't save them.

There are snippets of Gord playing an acoustic version of Pretend in the In View video too. (A song that I like, btw. I might be the only one - though I think it's the production that most have issue with not necessarily the song itself).
Very cool. Thanks for the links!

I remember this night. White ribbon benefit concert. The Phoenix is Toronto 2003. GD came out first and sung this song and Sarah Harmer's hideout. Really good night. Tea Party, Edwin, Gordie Johnson, Todd Kearns (Age of Electric), the watchman and Snow were there.
WC talk - Between the two Bob Rock albums, I enjoy this one so much more and skip less songs. The only song I really can't get through is Pretend. Absolutely love, Ocean, Rink, Luv and Kids.

Those demo's are incredible - that is almost bang on with how I wish World Container was recorded! In view is pretty cool stripped down as well!!
This leads me to my next question, what else do you have kicking around that may be undiscovered by the rest of us?
Those demos are beautiful. What a standing condemnation of Rock's moronic production.

He had gold and turned it into sonic dog poo.
Really interesting to hear "In View" as a work in progress, as opposed to WC, which is clearly a finished song at that point. I think they should have kept the line "I'm not worth it," which adds a poignant element right from the get-go, and the chorus Gord was toying with had potential.
If they ever do release the "Bootleg Series," it should include as many demos from the WC sessions as possible. There is a parallel universe somewhere where Rock did not f**k up 3/4 of the songs on that album, and we need to hear it.
I really do like this album. It was the first album since Phantom Power that was immediately 'accessible' to me. The shows in 2006-7 that I attended were spectacular and the live versions of the WC tunes really cemented my appreciation of the album.
No deep insights. In View took me quite by surprise but I grew to love the song and the video was great. I loved the album and all of the artwork. I went to Record Theatre in Buffalo (RIP) to get it because it wasn't released in the US yet. It wasn't there because a giant snowstorm (the "October Surprise") delayed shipments. Finally got it a few days later and played it over and over and over again in the car. Saw them in DC a year after it was released and I remember Gord doing a triumphant jump into the air during the opening chords of Yer Not the Ocean. My favorites are Yer Not The Ocean, Family Band, and the title track.
