Congrats to those who got tix. Seems to be no major issues. I got HIP tix right away no problem but today, all attempts to get Ottawa tix for Gord failed. I kept trying but no matter what it kept saying "invalid passcode". It turns out it was not a glitch, it was my own stupidity. I was a day late on the presale and was using yesterday's presale code. Sad I am. I will weep now and come back later. Though can I just say Ticketmaster still sucks? I think he will sing but I predict no HIP songs since anytime I have seen Gord solo, there have been no HIP songs on the set.

I've seen Gord solo more than a handful of times, and on my list I've seen him do The Rock (from the Depression Suite), If New Orleans is Beat, Family Band, Morning Moon, Bobcaygeon, Thompson Girl, Wheat Kings and the Lookahead. That being said, if he did do any Hip songs at this, I would suspect only one or two and Bobcaygeon would likely be one of them.
I would be shocked if Gord did not perform at this. I can't believe people are even floating this hypothesis. The man is a musician. This is a music venue. He's not going to stand there and talk and play a video.

Even though this is a high-profile "special event", I can't imagine someone paying $1000 for the movie on a screen at the NAC and then hearing the same ten songs live and that's it. But then I wouldn't pay $1000 to see the beatles play with John and George resurrected from the dead, so I might be the wrong person to ask.
Ha! I might have to dish out $1000 for that scenario. My prediction* is that Gord and his band will come out and play a song, then introduce the project/show with a brief discussion, then the movie will play as the band plays live throughout -- I predict that the movie will contain each of the ten songs in their entirety. I doubt we'll hear any non-Secret Path Gord solo songs and seriously doubt we'll hear any Hip songs.
*My prediction history is spotty as best. At the beginning of the MMP tour I predicted Fire in the Hole as the last song they would play in Kingston.
**For those who didn't get tickets to the Toronto show, I managed to get 4. There is a chance I will only use two of the tickets, so I
might have an extra pair. As much as I love my friends, I want the biggest Gord fans there...so if my real-life Gord-allies aren't available to come, I would prefer that one of you got the tickets. Just head on over to my Ebay page and $tart bidding! Kidding of course. I wouldn't sell them for a penny more that what I paid.

totally agree with this

He could do some of this. But that's not all he'll do. He's almost certainly going to perform the 10 Secret Path songs. And I think he'll probably play 1 through 10 straight. I don't know whether or not the album is a continual narrative but I doubt he'd intersperse cuts off previous solo albums among the new tunes. In this case, it might dilute the story and the message.
The question is really whether this is a full-on solo show with two hours of tunes or whether this is a multi-media event with a screening of the film as well. The latter is more likely in my opinion, especially given that someone has mentioned getting a seat with a partial view of the screen.
I'm intrigued by all the things it could be -- Gord just sitting on stage and reading the graphic novel, and holding it up so we can all see the pictures.
In seriousness, primarily I'm glad his health is well enough to take on these two shows. It could also be an opportunity to play with the various musicians he's collaborated with on these solo projects over the years. He's had a all-star band when you go back and look through the credits.
My thinking is that he will play the album the whole way through, along with video of the special playing on a screen behind him. If this doesn't occupy enough time (which I doubt it will), he will play other songs as well.

For this I would splurge on a $1000 ticket!
Upside is the audience gets to sit on the carpet in a semicircle but downside is we have to raise our hand if we need to leave for a bathroom break.

Ha ha! If you bring a blanket, he'll tuck you in after he's finished the story.
10:01-10:05 nothing available main floor
10:06 sit tight searching
I suck at getting tickets these days.
seriously try for 1
why not?
Thats what I started with only 1.
I wonder if part of the evening might involve a guest speaker as well, perhaps as an introduction, maybe, to discuss the more general issue of residential schools & provide some context for Gord's work.
