Congrats to all who got tickets today. All I could pullis the $1000 tix. Definitely not in the budget right now. So hopefully luck is on my side on Friday

Guess I could look it up, but feeling lazy. Do we know 100% for certain that this is going to be a musical performance. I mean it makes sense it is, but at the same time it is a book as well. Could it maybe end up being a reading and special guests to discuss the issue?
I am sure it is going to be him performing, but just had me wondering.....maybe not?
chancellor: Keep watching this space. There is a chance of another round of tickets in a presale tomorrow or another handful between now and 11:59PM. This appears to be unscalpable which is a wonderful thing IMHO. I am definitely keeping watch on tickets throughout the day and I will post in this space if anymore $50 become available.
BTW I'm already glad I signed up, the presale was the kick in the butt I needed after much procrastination. I will be sticking around here!
Looks like a multi-media production so maybe musical, visual, spoken word, dance ... all of which mr downie and friends have given us before?

Now this is an interesting thought!! I'm now wondering if we're gonna get a sneak preview of the animated special followed by the live set w/ + 3-4 encore. That would run about two hours, which would plausibly leave another 30min to an hour for speakers, or more music or a reading etc.
.
Can someone send me the presale code? Totally missed out on this

Yeah, that gave me pause as well -- I'm not sure if it says explicitly "concert" anywhere? I'm assuming it is, sure it is, but the actual project is more than just the 10 songs. I'm intrigued either way and after getting caught in the spinning wheel of "we're verifying your tickets...you have no tickets" presale will try again on the Friday.
Who would have thought a concept album about residential schools could generate such interest? If I read right, Gord finished this in 2013. I guess it got put aside for the FC tour, then they rolled into the MMP album and then the crap news. Looking for a positive in the negative, he has a much bigger platform know versus releasing this in 2013. I'll pick on the Facebook fan page, but don't think there would have been this frenzy to get tickets over a show based on the story of Charlie Wenjack.
I'll be honest, I would have been less interested in the project a year ago. I like some of Gord's solo stuff -- I really like Coke Machine Glow -- but definitely need to be in the mood. What does perk my curiosity is being produced by Kevin Drew, and if I have the timeframe right would have been before MMP. Taking a guess that Gord liked something about the process or outcome that be then brought to the full band.
Just noticed the code in my junk mail folder, sent at 2:52am Wednesday. And I registered after 8pm Tuesday... It's like they sent a second batch out

When I searched for tickets (and failed) it had an option that said partial screen view. To me that sounds like it'll be the movie and a live show. Anvil did that years ago where you watched there movie for an hour then they performed after

The more I think about it, the more this seems like the most likely scenario. The movie doesn't air on CBC until the 23rd so this would be a "premiere" of the film. I think Gord will then run through the ten songs on Secret Path (I could picture him being seated with the tele-prompter in front of him) and then maybe 2-3 other tunes, whether they were solo or Hip tunes. If he's playing Secret Path it would be logical for Kevin Drew and Dave Hamelin to be accompanying him and I can't imagine him working up a whole set list of past solo material with these guys for the sake of a couple of shows.
I suppose it's possible that he will play the songs live with the corresponding parts of the movie playing behind them? And then something else (solo + hip) after? The NAC show said doors at 6, show at 8.
Even though this is a high-profile "special event", I can't imagine someone paying $1000 for the movie on a screen at the NAC and then hearing the same ten songs live and that's it. But then I wouldn't pay $1000 to see the beatles play with John and George resurrected from the dead, so I might be the wrong person to ask.
