A sad start to the games today:

I've seen alot of Luge in past Olympics but that guy was going at an Insanely Fast speed Confusedhock: Very Very sad, Whoever designed that track and not put padding on that line of steel posts is beyond an idiot :rambo:
Not to mention, that apparently, this is the fastest luge track in the world, with competitors reaching speeds of up to and OVER 90mph!
This is so sad.
My god, they should provide a warning before they show that accident on national tv. Confusedhock: Stay safe to all those "sliders" out there...

On another note, I'm not sure if I'll be able to handle 2 weeks of CTV's coverage. I can't stand any of the reporters/announcers. I really miss Ron McLean.
Word, CTV sucks ass.
Two words.

I'm just glad Brian Williams is still working the Olympics. Hands down he's my favorite Olympic broadcaster, they just wouldn't be the same without him.

Gooooooooooooooooooooooodevening, iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrian Williams here at the International Broadcast Centre. It's coming up to Twenty after Nine in Vaaaaaaaaaaaaancouver, which means it's 12:20 in Ottawa, 1:20 in Halifax and coming up to 5:20 in the morning in London, England. Coming up: 4-man bobsleigh and my one-on-one interview with the lovely Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatriona Lemay Doan.

He's the best.
Saw a gal on CBC Newsworld wearing crazy leather boots while reporting on the Olympics... made the East Indian guy next to her very uncomfortable. She was smokin' hot, but then again I'm perverted. Anyone know who I'm talking about? And how about Arnold and his torch carry the other day? Anyone see my SALT trailer in the Tragically Hip discussion section by any chance? HAHA. Arnold rules!

With the speed these guys get, I'm not sure that padding would have changed the outcome. Maybe plexiglass to keep them on the track...
I don't understand why they got Wayne Newton to sing Hallelujah.

I was thinking the same thing. Then I thought the organizers thought she looked most like Leonard Cohen out of all the people there.

"Hey guys, he looks like he can sing, let's get him to sing that song tonight!"

"That's a she, boss."

"Can she sing?"

"I think that's what she's knowN for. She looks like Wayne Newton so I'd hope so"
