That is all. Reply if you want. Mock me if you want. Whatever.
No shame, Mr. Jordan. You should check out her album "Jagged Little Pill Acoustic", that blew me away the first time I ever heard that.
The real shame is the fact that you are turning into a Brad Paisley fan.
I haven't heard the acoustic version, but JLP is one of my favourite albums.
Well, you see, two of my brothers listen to country music all the time. I usually start an argument with them by commentating on how terrible country music is, but I thought I'd give it a listen. I downloaded some Brad Paisley for my brothers and actually listened to it myself. I am trying to have a more open mind about listening to music.

With my mind open, I actually found that I really liked some of Brad's songs. The song,
Whisky Lullaby,k which he does with Allison Krauss, is great!
A week ago, I might have been saying the same thing as you about Paisley, but, not now.
Hey, Langlois loves Dwight Yoakam and Baker loves Vince Gill.

Maybe there is something to this genre of music.

My first concert was this guy (and I'm damn proud of it!):

And I would go see him again in a second.
Hometowns, by
The Rural Alberta Advantage.
Any album with songs about Lethbridge, Edmonton, and Frank deserves some bonus points. Samples on their site, if anyone is interested!
My current obsessions:
Wintersleep- Welcome to the Night Sky. This album just blows my mind everytime I listen to it. I've had months to absorb it now, and it's since become one of my favorite albums of all time. I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't checked these guys out yet.
Kathleen Edwards- Asking for Flowers. It's absolutely flawless.
The Clash/Joe Strummer. I've been reading the biography "Redemption Song: The Ballad of Joe Strummer", and in the process I've been rediscovering the Clash, as well as Strummer's solo work with the Mescaleros. We lost this guy way too soon. "Combat Rock" was one of the first albums I ever owned. I got it as a birthday present when I turned 13.
Sam Roberts- Love at the End of the World. It gets better with every spin.
The Constantines- Kensington Heights. Awesome. one of my favorite records of the year so far.
R.E.M.- Accelerate. Their best album in years. It's nice to have 'em back.
Aside from my extended obsession with The Hip... there are a few other albums that I can't put down right now.
The Beatles - Let It Be
I don't care if the boys didn't like the Phil Spector mix. I do! (Except for on
The Long And Winding Road... IMO one of the most godawful Beatles songs I've ever heard. But then
For You Blue kicks in and more makes up for the few minutes you suffered.

)
Hawksley Workman - Los Manlicious
Hawksley needs to drop his label. He submitted this album, and they rejected it because it was "too heavy" compared to typical Hawksley material. It was released in some parts of Scandinavia earlier this year. You can buy it online, but I would love to get a hard copy of this album. Some of the best Hawksley work I've ever heard... just behind Between The Beautifuls if you ask me.
Nancy Sinatra - Boots
She does a few cover tunes... and one of them is an absolutely kickin' version of Run For Your Life.
And also there is that insanely catchy song which is quite obviously on the Boots album :thumb: .
Scarlett Johansson - Anywhere I Lay My Head
Ten songs by Tom Waits. Two by David Bowie.
Twelve sung by the most suttle and beautiful voice I've heard in a while. Really cool production, if you ask me.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven
I heard this album for the first time a few weeks ago. It restructured my genetic code.
I've been listening to:
Bunnies on Ponies/Samuel Flynn Scott new cd.
A cross of indie with some D Y mixed in.
Hey Bonner, Nothing wrong with Brad Paisley...I've seen him twice
I downloaded the new My Morning Jacket and I've been listening to it all day. A good record to listen to while sipping Gin and 7's on the patio in the Istanbul heat. Man, the music these guys make defies genres...
Aesop Rock — Float (2000): Great album, facemelting lyrics.

Loving it more and more, and I'm not just saying that because one of my employees is friends with the drummer.
I've mentioned these guys before, but
The Whigs - Mission Control - continues to be my vote for album of the year.
I'm also really enjoying
Thao Nguyen & the Get Down Stay Down - We Brave Bee Stings And All.
If any of you like Cat Power, I highly recommend you check out Thao Nguyen.

A.A. Bondy - How will you meet your end? (saw him open for the Weakerthans in Buffalo, absolutely blown away!)
Fear and Convenience - Thao Nguyen and the Get Down Stay Down
Be My Witness - Bourbon Tabernacle Choir
the dude i'm going to be getting my beats from.
