Here is a little "Debbie Downer" editorial from the Belleville Intelligencer yesterday

Not sure about you guys, but this festival doesn't seem to be run any different than any other one I have been to.........Sarstock for example......

Some people are not happy unless they have something to complain about.

Am I gonna be the only one that kind of agrees with the complainers. With a show that's running 8+ hours on the longest day of the year, to not allow people to bring food or water (apparantley one 500mL bottle is allowed now) is just ludicrous. That's my two cents anyways.
Hmmm I was just looking at some cd covers from Hipfans.com and came across one from June 21st 2006. Funny but the Hip played Belleville that day also. Strange how those things happen.
I must say I kind of agree with bringing in food and water. I hate being gouged after already dropping money on a ticket, but that might be my Scottish genes at play.

Three more sleeps!!! Smile
and what a day it was!

It's not like this policy is unique to Belleville. Pretty much every outdoor show of this scale that I've ever been to has been the same. Hope you all enjoy the day...I'm pissed that I'm missing this one Sad

My thoughts exactly. Although the prices are over inflated, you kind of know what you are going into before you buy the tickets. Really it is no more over inflated than the prices at any arena show, and correct me if I am wrong, but do arenas allow water or outside food? Granted that is comparing a 2 hour show to an 8 hour show I suppose......

But as I said, you kind of know what you are going into, any even like this is going to charge over inflated prices, no different then knowing popcorn is going to cost you $10 at the movies, or a slice of pizza and a drink is going to cost you $!5 at Canada's Wonderland.......

Not allowing bottled water is a little different, but not really for an outdoor event like this. And in all honesty, if that is going to help stop the event from becoming a huge drunk fest, I would rather pay $3.00 for a bottle of water as opposed to bringing in water and having a ton of drunk people around me........

my god I am getting old...... :nooooo :nooooo

Good news on the water, MAV.
Contrary to what others have said, I have personally never been to an outdoor festival where you COULDNT bring water in.
So its good that issue is put to rest.
Lets hope the food vendors will have some tasty treats too.
Mabey some fruit also. Bananas,Apples, Oranges. Granola Bars.
Potato Salad.
Hopefully its not just Hot Dogs and Hamburgers and French Fries.
Ive been to a few shows where there was not a good variety of food.
And here is to hoping a Hot Dog dont cost $5 and a burger $7
I hope the Hip souviners will have some interesting items.
I always love a limited edition Poster sale.
See you all there.
There will be about 20 in our group. We plan on having a great time.
Thankyou Wes, I was thinking the same thing about the water. I personally don't know what festivals these people are going to where water is not allowed. It's more of a safety thing than anything I would think, Hot weather + standing in the sun jumping up and down singing for eight hours = dehydration. I hope now that they've permitted one bottle per person that they'll be having water fountains or something to fill those bad boys back up.
Apparently you will have to watch out for the sniffing dogs in the line-up. But, I've never heard of anyone smoking dope at a Hip concert so that shouldnt matter anyways.
Also, make sure to bring a watch so that you can calculate the amount of time you will need to nurse your four beers (that is apparently the limit for everyone)
Maybe we can all hold hands after the event and go directly to midnight mass.
Hip shows used to be fun. But, I totally disagree with the do's and dont's being broadcasted three days prior to the event. It just seems a little to convenient. Especially for a show that is paying its headliner 400 thousand dollars. I think we should have a little more freedom as fans to party it up if we so desire.
serious about the dog sniffing?

we usually hide our joints in a small "custom made" pocket near the crotch
short notice I know, but any chance someone has a couple of extra tickets? It would be greatly appreciated
