I know there are a few keen photographers on here, so I thought it'd be cool to have a thread where everyone can show their favourite shots. They can be one's you've take yourself, or one's you've found but really like - Let's seem 'em! :thumb:

Here's a couple of my favourite recent photos:

There's a load more on my blog if you're interested...
I was checking out your site yesterday after you mentioned that some of your work was on there and saw those, great shots :thumb:
Cool thread idea Zenith, and great pics btw. I'm still quite the rookie photographer, but I do enjoy putting my camera to use when I get the chance. Hopefully my budget will allow me to upgrade to an SLR sometime this year. Anyway here's a few of my favourites from a trip I took earlier this winter:

Hockey on Lake Louise...

Damn brilliant idea, Zenith! Thanks for the shots from across the pond.

Grimes, I see you're captivated by some of the scenery around here. Can't say I blame you! I really like the shot from the KH resort.

I've picked out a few shots of mine - the theme is "Glory". Hope you enjoy 'em.

Thanks gambler, you've got some great shots there yourself. I love the colour of the sky on "For Susan" :thumb:

Wow! I love this one. Great composition - I love the crop as well. Beautiful.

gambler, those sunset shots are amazing! I can't believe the spectrum of colours you've got in there! 8) Nice one.

Keep 'em coming!
Thanks Zenith...it's actually two shots stitched together, I was playing around with that function on my camera a bit that day.

Ah right, cool. You've done a good job on it.

Wow... nice job!!! I've never played around with that stuff before... is there much involved?

Thanks mate 8)

I've been constantly blown away by the flexibility of digital. I worked in a photo lab back in high school/university (about 10 years ago), and got used to our printers and what you needed to do to get some decent colour out of them. I got rather frustrated after I left... any time I wanted prints done, I had to leave pretty specific instructions on how I wanted them done.

Then last fall I went digital, and wow... holy crap Batman! I started shooting RAW (Canon speak for the highest file size = most flexibility), and started playing around with some different software. A shot that would take me three or four experiment prints to get right now takes me two minutes on the computer. It's just so much easier to clean them up now. "Custom White Balance" has to be the single greatest feature digital has to offer. Big Grin

Anyway guys... keep the shots coming! Once I get my errand list done (ugh), I'll fish out some more.

Actually it's pretty easy using my Canon S3IS, I imagine other cameras use a similar approach. You just put the camera into Stitch mode, and after you set up and take the first shot, all the settings are locked for the subsequent shots. Then if panning from left to right, the right edge of the preceding shot is displayed in the viewfinder so you can get it properly lined up. From there I just used the software that came with the camera to join them into one. It does a fairly good job, though upon close inspection I can notice the seams, so something like Photoshop would likely work even better.

There's a few more here.
Kitty!!!!

Those are lovely photos! Whenever I attempt to take pictures at the zoo it seems as though the animals plot against me. That, or I'm not quick enough with the shutter.

I want a good camera! Sad

These shots are nothing short of inspiring...
Zenith, I think I'll tell the missus that I found the kitty I want for us. Not sure how'll she take it
