Man what a great album! The Night is Forgetting sounds like a sweet Elton John-ish tune. Moon Over Glenora, As a Mover, Gone and Broadcast are unreal. And The Dance and its Dissapearance is fucking sweet. Jesus, I hate how Gord took so long to put out another solo album, but I'm not arguing with the results.

And I think Retrace is the ultimate 'stoned-and-hungover-what-the-fuck-did-I-do-last-night' song I've ever heard!

Side note- saw in the Kitchener Waterloo Record this morning that tickets to Guelphs riverfest where hes playing sold out in 4 minuets... wtf???
Riverfest?... whatever its called

The Hillside Festival is one of the best weekend type concerts in Southern Ontario ... its a massive park so I'm surprised the weekend passes sold out so quickly. It would have made better business sense to sell more weekend passess and make the single day passes available closer to the event. Regardless, Sunday single day passes for GDATCOM are still available.

This album is fantastic. Better than the last two hip albums dare I say.

I agree. It seems Gord has saved his best material for his solo record. Has it really come to that?? Or is it just that these songs wouldn't work within the framework of the Hip? Not that there aren't some incredible tunes on the last two Hip records (Ocean, Rink, Kids, Drop-Off, Family Band, Morning Moon, Depression Suite, Last Recluse, etc..). But as a complete album I just find The Grand Bounce to be a better record than both WC and WATS...and that's only after a couple of listens.

Discuss.

True.. now think what the Hip could accomplish without Rock.

But also- I cant really picture the hip playing East Wind together, or Downie attempting Yer Not the Ocean with the country of miracles.

Either way its a sweet album and hoping to see em in Guelph, the island is a really cool spot for a concert. Anyone who is thinking of going to Hillside fest remember your travel mug for beer. Unless you bring one, or buy one of theirs, they wont serve ya.
