Just got back from the USA
#16

Ah, damn Bills...Super Bowl next year! Well, that is what I say every year.

As for the world juniors, I am not a big fan of team Canada, because of the rivalry, but I sure would love to see them feed it to those gutless panzy-ass Russians. I was disgusted last night, not only losing 7-2 but to see that Russian assistant coach blow kisses at the US bench did it for me. OK, yeah they kicked our butts, but the way they went about it was pathetic. Just play hockey. Then again, I wouldn't expect anything else from them. I just think back to Don Cherry in HNIC looking at film of Kovalev diving and rolling around on the ice holding his arm and nobody is within 10 feet of him.

I don't know if I will ever say this again but Go Canada. Please do not let those fags from Russia get the gold.

Oh yeah, tragicallymike, noticed the bandits icon...big opener Friday...I am not a big lax fan, last time I went was the championships in the Aud back in the day...but with no Bills and no Sabres, it looks like I have found a new hobby! Go Bandits!

6-5 Russians....i hope crosby gets all 5 for the canadians. The future NHL will need a superstar player to make people care again.

I just watched the US/Russia game on TSN here in Canada and you still are cheering for the Russians after the taunting and cheap shots that both sides were giving eachother? You must like when someone rubs mud in your face after getting your ass kicked. Russia played like a bunch of cocky punks. I hope Canada beats the hell out of them on the ice and on the scoreboard. I'd be personally embarassed to be from Russia the way they acted in that game.

Oh and "pwned!111!!" means "owned" I'm sure you knew that though. :thumb:

i already said that I slept through the game because of NFL hangover so I missed the Russians antics. I hope in some sort of freakish circumstance that canada and the russians tie.

You're "excitement" turned to a "passing interest" because you didn't watch Canada play, yet you are cheering against Canada? Well that makes sense. I'm guessing you'd be plenty excited if the Americans were playing for the gold.

Well I also said, which you convienently left out, that I lost interest because of all of the excitement surrounding the bills playoff run. But , yes I would have loved to have seen Canada play because they are the best team in the tournament. I would have also liked to have seen the Russians play the Czechs but that didnt happen either. You have the luxury of catching most ,if not all, of the tournament and it makes it better to follow. To be honest if the US was playing Canada in the final I would have probably watched only about half the game while flippin through the channels. OF course Canada probably would have had the game in hand early in the 2nd because of the suspect goaltending by Montoya.

Whatever. You made your "I'm officially excited" post on Dec 20th. In between that time and now the Bills won ONE more game to keep their playoff hopes alive, and then lost to the 2nd string Steelers. In other words, you were in the midst of your excitement towards the Bills when you made your post about being excited about the junior tourney.

Its very transparent that your lack of excitement is because your team got embarrassed. Rather than simply leave it alone, you post to a site filled with Canadians "Go Russia", and try to dismiss the tournament in general because *gasp* Americans don't care about it (despite your comments earlier that you were excited about the tourney).

I suppose you are in a position to tell me how I feel about hockey tournaments. In case you werent watching....the bills needed a ton of help on Dec 20th to make the playoffs. It really didnt seem likely that they would have a chance. Then the cards fell the right way last weekend and gave the bills a legit shot. Now lets break out your calendar and look at a few things shall we :
The actual tournament started on Saturday Dec 25th...the US had a game but so did the Denver Broncos who the bills needed to lose...didnt see much of that one. The next day everything went the bills way and the talk of the town was how the bills were destined for the playoffs. I dont give a shit about a bunch of teenage kids playing hockey when my NFL team is on a 6 game winning streak and has a legit shot at the playoffs for the first time in 5 years. I really dont even care that the US lost a few games. It really doesnt do anything to affect me. Its hockey.....if it entertains me..GREAT. If im already preoccupied with something more important than it will take the back burner.

but thanks for telling me how i felt Dr.

Uhhh, no I'm not. You were the one posting that you were "excited". Until of course Bills fever apparently overwhelmed you which coincided nicely with the US collapse.

Yeah, let's hope for a brawl like the '87 tourney. This way both teams will get dq'ed and the winner of the bronze medal match will receive the gold.
:what

This will also cause tragicallymike to suddenly regain interest in the tournament. Tongue

Seriously though, let's just hope Canada plays disciplined hockey and wins where it matters, i.e. the scoreboard! :thumb:

Sutter has those boys well coached and focused as I'm sure they've been watching the Russians and know all their antics. I can see the Russians trying to make the game chippy and undisciplined but we shouldn't fall to that level.

I read this on TSN this morning about Ovechkin and more of his antics by MacKenzie: "At the beginning of a period, Ovechkin's ritual is often to skate down before the puck is dropped and pretend to be shooting at the goaltender and scoring.
The Americans were shocked to see this happen and didn't do anything about it, but Canada has already told the IIHF that they better make sure Ovechkin stays on his side of the ice. If not, there's potential for huge problems - something in the nature of what happened in Piestany, Czechoslovakia in 1987
."

Another reason why he needs a paddlin'. Wink
