Come September I'll be able to add Mark Knopfler to that list. Come October, it'll be R.E.M.'s turn.
But I haven't picked up anything from 2004 except for the Hip's album yet, so I'm a passive observer here!

I agree with all of those choices...I have to add Wilco-A Ghost Is Born, and Phantom Planet-Phantom Planet.
I am going to pick up the new Sadies record today. Has anyone heard it?

Actually I just remembered, I picked up Katie Melua's debut earlier this year...she's a British chick who makes Norah Jones-ish mellow lounge jazz...the difference being her voice. Norah puts me to sleep, but I really "get" Katie and her angle. I love her voice and she's even written and co-written her own ballads that are virtually indistinguishable from the brilliant classics she covers...

To The Five Boroughs ~ Beastie Boys!!!
------------------------------
"Kanye! Kanye, what do you think about the Beastie Boys being kidnapped by sasquatch all these years?" - Some reporter or something
"Oh wow, I did not know that. I did not know there were sasquatches..." - Kanye West, looking mightily stupid

I think "A Ghost Is Born" just might be the best album since... well, probably the last Wilco record.
"Hot Fuss" by the Killers is high on this year's list so far. Same with "Good News..." by Modest Mouse
Can't forget Morrissey either. That album is pure British bliss
Cheers

I'd agree with a lot that's already been said.
The Hip of course
Wilco
Velvet Revolver
Modest Mouse
I'd add Drive-by Truckers - The Dirty South to the list as well

Ok...I'll say
the hip
sarah harmer - all of our names
loretta lynn - van lear rose
matt good - rock and roll review
those four are the only ones i've really enjoyed.
Honestly, sarah harmer's album gets as much play as IBE. it's oh so good.

I'd have to add Bad Religion: The Empire Strikes First. And Blink 182's self titled one. I can't wait for the new Green Day and The Used albums.
