Honourary Event Chair George Stroumboulopoulos invites you to the 16th Annual Charles Sauriol Environmental Dinner for The Living City at Pearson Convention Center, Brampton, on Thursday, November 12, 2009. This event celebrates the great conservationist and visionary Charles Sauriol C.M. featuring Gord Downie and Mark Mattson from Lake Ontario Waterkeeper who will present Heart of a Lake: an evening of song, dance, poetry and conversation.

I've been looking at the LOW website today (sort of job related) and may make a post later on the Lafarge decision. The Hip are more heavily involved in environmental issues than I thought. :thumb:

Oops. Sorry, I just took what I found on a LOW's twitter post naming the individuals.

As for the Lafarge thing, yes, I know its regarding the plant in Bath. I just found it interesting after doing some more digging, that all five of the band member's names are listed in all of the appeals to the MOE as main appellants. I read a lot of environmental appeals in my work, so it was interesting to read this one and hear their concerns.

Here's a podcast with some clips from the dinner. Downie speaks briefly at the start, then really gets going around 8:00. Nice stuff about his dad, mom and even one of his teachers, "who would arrive most days at school, with a canoe named 'Grace, Too' lashed upside down to the roof of his small car."
